MUFG is seeking a Director and Leader of the Americas Data Privacy and Protection Office (DPPO). The Director of Americas DPPO will lead the data privacy and protection compliance team for MUFG Americas, including the US, Canada, and Latin America.  The position reports to the Global Chief Privacy Officer and plays a key leadership role in developing and implementing MUFG’s data privacy and protection program.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of MUFG Americas Privacy program by:

  • Providing advice and guidance to business units and corporate functions on Privacy program risks.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of Americas laws and regulations relating to data privacy and protection, and implementing appropriate changes to existing policies, standards and compliance programs based on legal and regulatory developments.

  • Participating in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, standards, procedures, assessment processes and response plans.

Manage the Americas DPPO team and ongoing data privacy and protection compliance activities by:

  • Leading Privacy Impact Assessments, data subject access response, and the review of new products, services, and technology initiatives.

  • Managing the privacy incident response process for Team responsible for responding to privacy incidents in the Americas region.

  • Working with Compliance stakeholders to develop and implement privacy risk assessment and testing programs.

  • Maintaining and overseeing Leading the ongoing privacy monitoring processes of privacy risks.

  • Developing and reviewing privacy training program content.

  • Interacting with Legal and Compliance stakeholders, and other liaisons.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience supporting a data privacy program, including leadership experience.  Experience working in financial services preferred.

  • Strong Knowledge of U.S, Canada, and Latin America data privacy and data protection laws and regulations.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills including the ability to prepare clear and concise summaries and reports.

  • High attention to detail and extremely organized to effectively manage multiple concurrent priorities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and to adapt to unexpected changes.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 

  • Strong sense of ownership to drive tasks to completion and to identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree and CIPP certification strongly preferred.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $180K - $240K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
