About the Role
Ciena is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Regional Operations to oversee and optimize end-to-end supply chain operations for our Thailand manufacturing footprint. This role operates within a matrix reporting model, where the local team members report to engineering and operations teams located in other regions. As a leader in this role, you’ll collaborate across geographies and functions to drive operational excellence and ensure alignment with global supply chain objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Thailand supply chain strategy that aligns with global priorities, optimizing efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and operational resilience.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and distribution processes to achieve best-in-class performance.
  • Leverage data analytics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational innovation.
  • Champion the deployment and integration of advanced supply chain technology systems to enhance visibility and efficiency.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and alignment with business goals.
  • Drive contract negotiations and vendor terms that maximize value and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and operations, to ensure seamless execution and alignment.
  • Host executive leaders and customers visiting the Thailand manufacturing site, showcasing operational excellence, and fostering strong relationships.
  • Manage logistics and global shipments, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop the supply chain team to foster professional growth and high performance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in electronics manufacturing supply chains, with a demonstrated ability to lead large-scale operations.
  • Fluency in English and Thai, with strong communication skills to navigate a global, matrixed environment.
  • Expertise in procurement, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relations, with a track record of delivering measurable results.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Proficiency in ERP and WMS systems to support operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with experience leading geographically dispersed teams.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or professional certifications such as APICS, CPIM, CSCP, CIPS, or PMP.
  • Experience in telecom or high-reliability manufacturing supply chains, with knowledge of industry-specific requirements and standards.

Work Requirements

  • On-site presence in Thailand at least 80% of the time to oversee operations and engage with the local team.
  • Domestic and international travel as needed to collaborate with global stakeholders and suppliers.
