Lead Systems Engineer

Allegion is looking for a passionate Lead Systems Engineer to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin, LCN and Zentra) focused on safety, security and access management.  You will work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with business leaders to define product requirements that meet customer, marketing, and internal stakeholder needs.
  • Work directly with a project manager to plan and communicate budget, resources, and schedule throughout the program.
  • Work with all engineering competencies to meet product milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead requirement elicitation and decomposition strategies, technical risk management, structured problem solving, design verification and technical design reviews.
  • Lead program requirement management activities (requirement elicitation and decomposition through verification).
  • Facilitate Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities with the team (i.e., System FMEA, Design FMEA, and/or User FMEAs).
  • Grow Systems Engineering best practices and systems thinking at Allegion.
  • Work with Software teams to align deliverables across Physical Devices, IoT Cloud, Mobile Application, and Web Application products.
  • Work in a highly collaborative, hybrid work environment.

What you Need to Succeed:

  • BS or higher in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • 8+ years work experience in new product development for electro-mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in: systems thinking, requirements management, verification and traceability, technical risk management, PMP, Agile, and/or SAFe.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and team leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Comfortable with the facilitation of Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) events.
  • Exhibits a learning and coaching/mentor mindset.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred:

  • INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity methods and protocols, cloud service architectures (AWS, Azure), or wireless communications protocols (BLE, Zigbee, ZWave, WiFi).
