Job Description Summary:

As a Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) you will have a pivotal role in enabling and powering this transformation.
The Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) is expected to work in a fast-paced environment as a software engineering scrum team member to understand customer requirements, design, create and automate test cases that adequately exercise each section of code. The individual uses approved automation software applications to automate each test case. They provide metrics and quality artifacts to meet internal and external quality compliance requirements.

Job Overview:  

The Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) is expected to work in a fast-paced environment as a software engineering scrum team member to understand customer requirements, design, create and automate test cases that adequately exercise each section of code. The individual uses approved automation software applications to automate each test case. They provide metrics and quality artifacts to meet internal and external quality compliance requirements. 

The Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) keeps a keen eye on customer commitments and work collaboratively with engineering counterparts to meet customer commitments. The individual must build productive working relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer quality specifications. The Software Engineer in Test is responsible for the design, implementation, and documentation of code automation. The individual works on problem analysis and exercises judgment based on situations and data.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Validates assigned software products using systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards while working in the agile team. 

  • Learns, develops, modifies, and executes complete test plans based on design specifications 

  • Responsible for multiple components or modules of automation code for multiple parts of the product.  

  • Observes and records defects in software products while analyzing failures through automated or semi-automated test execution. 

  • Working with development engineers in resolution of issues

  • Ensures quality integration into all aspects of software development, data acquisition, and processing 

  • Learns and understands hardware and software systems and platform 

  • Uses current programming languages and technologies 

  • Apply established QA processes and procedures 

  • Independently create automated test scripts Selenium, Java, Ready API or appropriate batch scripting language from provided test cases design descriptions

  • Perform different types of automated testing including functional, usability and load testing

  • Analyze results and provide defect reporting with a defect tracking tool

  • Work on an agile team of automation engineers

  • Ability to communicate within a team environment, working with development engineers in resolution of simple to moderate problems 

  • Enthusiasm and drive to succeed and willingness to learn

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to deal professionally and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across geographies 

  • Ensures quality integration into all aspects of software development, data acquisition, and processing 

  • Follows work plans and meets due dates; manage time across testing multiple projects simultaneously

 

Required Qualifications:  

  • 2 - 5 years of experience working on software quality environments 

  • Responds to learning suggestions positively 

  • Demonstrates good analytical problem-solving skills; curious/eager to innovate

  • Automated testing experience with Selenium/Java, ReadyAPI or batch scripting languages

  • Experience working in a in a fast-paced development environment

  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and experience testing in agile product release cycles

  • Experience involving browser-based and or server-based software products

  • Experience with virtualization environments

  • Experience deploying J2EE applications in Tomcat, WebSphere or WebLogic

  • Experience testing web services (REST)

  • Experience with test environment setup on both Windows and Linux

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
