Job Description

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Senior IT Program Manager on the Store Support FinTech Product Management team in Austin. This team member will initiate, plan, and implement medium to large complex projects (or oversees multiple small projects). They will utilize WFM’ ‘s methodologies, practices, and requirements in a single technical domain. They will define and follow communication plan with Team Members, partners, and stakeholders. They will also plan the project in detail and work with resource managers to acquire and schedule human and technical resources.


 

The Senior IT Program Manager will track dependencies on partners, vendors, and other 3rd parties and effectively influences successful dependency resolution. They will manage, accurately document, and communicate project status to leaders and stakeholders on a regular basis. They will control project quality and success by actively managing blockers and the decision process, assessing risks, initiating and tracking change requests, meeting schedule and deadlines for deliverables.

They will demonstrate resourcefulness, ceaseless energy and persistence to achieve goals despite obstacles and difficulties. They will also diplomatically but assertively lead negotiation of competing priorities and interruptions with stakeholders on behalf of the team, escalating where necessary.

This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes and actively participates in leading Product Increment Planning sessions.
  • Supports management of budget and reports on actual capex and expense.
  • Facilitates ceremonies such as Scrum of Scrums, Daily Standups, PI Planning sessions.
  • Organizes, attends, participates in, and facilitates meetings and ceremonies with Team Members, partners, and senior stakeholders, and distributes minutes to all attendees where appropriate.
  • Authors and communicates Program status updates to leadership and stakeholders
  • Tailors communication approach to specific situations and audiences.
  • Develops Agile/Lean project management deliverable structure and content.
  • Documents and follows up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Identifies and provides recommendations for project management process improvements.
  • Responds to critical situations with accurate analysis, problem breakdown, option assessment, and clear communication and/or escalation with the right stakeholders, if needed.
  • Establishes project documentation/templates library and ensures project management deliverables are completed.
  • Standardizes, generates, and evaluates project and program-level metrics and reporting.
  • Actively managing issues and the decision process, assessing risks, initiating and tracking change requests, meeting schedule and deadlines for deliverables, financial planning, and timely completion of program deliverables.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced experience with advanced backlog management and project task scheduling tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheets, Lucid Charts).
  • Experience with all phases of SDLC cycle.
  • Advanced experience planning and managing complex projects using Agile / Lean management principles and practices (e.g. Scrum, Kanban).
  • Experience successfully leading troubled project recoveries.
  • Experience developing Agile/Lean project management deliverable structure and content.
  • Clearly conveys and accurately receives information by a variety of methods and in various situations. Actively participates and collaborates with Team Members to achieve business goals. Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.
  • Collaborates with others to achieve objectives and ensure information flow.
  • Establishes credibility quickly by proactively setting and routinely meeting expectations.
  • Proactively dives deep into technical solution, business context, and team process as a servant leader.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 5-7 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 5+ years’ experience managing medium to large complex, multi-year projects with both a business and a technology focus
  • FinTech Project Management experience
  • WD project management experience

Preferred Experience:

  • At least one industry-standard project management certification
  • 3+ years building and leading teams
  • Experience with workday rollout in finance and accounting
