Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) is leveraging state-of-the-art data & digital capabilities to deliver innovation in regulation. We utilise data science and intelligence gathering to proactively identify and intervene to prevent harm and protect consumers.​

This role will be part of our newly created department named ‘Digital Delivery Hub’ based out of our Leeds FCA office. Our department falls within the Digital Product function, a subdivision of our DTI division. 

This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting new initiative within the FCA. Day to day you will be a hands on technical lead within an agile, multi-disciplinary team, working with developers, testers, agile leads and product owners to deliver exciting digital products and showcase technical excellence. The opportunity for the right candidate is to contribute to establishing an engineering approach that redefines how the FCA deliver digital products.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead and guide the development of your team, providing direction and oversight of the technical delivery for the digital products you are responsible for

  • Help establish and follow a set of engineering principles and best practices to ensure consistency and quality in the engineering process are upheld

  • Feed engineering insight and experience into the wider Strategy and Architecture team to identify opportunities to improve engineering across the whole organisation

  • Provide mentoring and coaching of more junior members of staff to enhance and improve the team’s capability

  • Bring an energetic and proactive approach to tackling complex technical challenges, encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous learning within the team

Which skills are required?

Minimum 

  • Demonstrable evidence of leading and mentoring teams, combined with strong stakeholder management and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation

  • Able to establish a series of engineering best practices and implementing them across multiple teams

  • Hands on and current active technical experience of one or more of the following – Java, Javascript/Typescript, Angular, AWS

Essential

  • Graduate level education (or equivalent experience) in Computing, Computer Science or equivalent subject

  • Has experience of and is a proponent of Test-Driven Development. Ideally having experience of implementing this approach for the first time in an organisation

  • Adept at leveraging automation to improve development processes and optimise software delivery

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking, capable of tackling complex technical challenges

  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and best practices, with a focus on creating scalable, maintainable, and efficient systems

  • This role is graded Technical Specialist – Regulatory

  • SC Clearance is required for this role -  SC Guidance  The successful candidate will hold or will be required to obtain Security Clearance (SC) level vetting.
