Job Description:

The Workers Compensation Specialist ensures that federal and state guidelines for job safety, disability law, and claims management that affect the rights of all Elara Caring employees for followed. This position will review Elara workers compensation practices and policies, and manage claims submitted by employees. The incumbent makes decisions about liability/compensability, evaluating losses, and negotiating settlements. The role interacts with injured workers, claimants, policyholders, medical providers, attorneys, and other third parties throughout the claims’ management process.

What is Required?

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, or Business, or other relevant field or an equivalent amount of relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • 2 years of experience in claims adjusting along with knowledge of claims investigation techniques, legal liability, insurance coverage, negotiation skills and medical terminology
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and prioritization skills
  • Uses logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and evaluate complex situations and research information to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to the situation
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and continually maintain confidentiality of data entrusted to the care of the incumbent
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry is preferred
  • Reliable transportation to perform job tasks
