This leader will have an exciting opportunity to lead our engineering teams for Pierce Manufacturing and Frontline Communications within our Vocational segment. This role, reporting to our Director and GM of the business, will be based out of our Bradenton, FL facility with weekly travel to our Clearwater, FL facility (1x/week).

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Engineering responsible for technical data rights will provide guidance for and implementation of the strategy for Oshkosh’s technical data and software it produces and delivers to various customers. The job entails ensuring all cross functional departments have clear standards implemented to follow for developing and handling technical data and software throughout the entire lifecycle of the products Oshkosh provides. In addition, a critical factor of this role is around the awareness and training of all team members affected by the requirements surrounding data rights.

YOUR IMPACT:  

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, implement, and advise senior leadership on strategies to ensure technical data and software rights are appropriately aligned with multiple program requirements and strategic directions.
  • Develop and manage training curriculum and educational needs regarding technical data and software rights throughout the segment(s).
  • Provides oversight of all technical data and software deliverables which includes ensuring all rights entitled to Oshkosh are represented in all deliverables, the use of technical data and software, internally, are provided to customers.
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring all processes and procedures for all affected departments who have ownership in managing technical data and software.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice team members, on all rules and regulations associated with rights governing the development and use of technical data and software.
  • Advise and implement strategies to ensure that new product development and all product/service lifestyle management initiatives are fully aligned to support protection of technical data and software rights appropriately.
  • Support and advise on program management requirements around decisions that involve the development, use of, and deliverables associated with technical data and software; including interaction with customer and industry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or equivalent.
  • Twelve (12) or more years of experience in engineering, contracts, lean and value stream management; or in a related area.
  • Five (5) or more years of management experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Graduate degree in Engineering; or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with Defense or government contracts.
  • Prior experience working in, or with, a Manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and value stream methodologies.
  • Ability to interact with company personnel, builds strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and understands business imperatives.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Board of Directors, and teams.
  • Experience and proficiency with CATIA and/or CREO.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with new product development processes and best practices.
