Position Overview
Apollo are looking for an Associate, Valuation Officer to join the Luxembourg team.
The Valuation Officer will support the day-to-day running of the Valuation function of Apollo Global Management in Luxembourg and the coordination of international projects that are led by the Conducting Officer responsible for valuations.
This is a key hire and requires the person in the role to engage with directors, key business stakeholders and international colleagues. The successful candidate will implement and oversee processes, play a key role in oversight, provide broader business support and lead projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Facilitate the Valuation Process in the Private Equity, Credit, and Real Estate segments
Value financial instruments and complex corporate securities
Analyze equity/debt/commodities financial market data history and other quantitative techniques
Develop a deep technical strength in the valuation of alternative assets, serving as a firm resource for that expertise and sharing that knowledge throughout Apollo
Validate and update valuation models as well as inputs and assess applicable methodologies
Coordinate with third party valuation firms and deal teams to create accurate, timely valuations
Coordinate with the fund administration teams for the review and approval process of the reported NAVs for the AIFs under management
Create summary materials highlighting significant changes/events, to be presented to the valuations committees for their review and approval of all valuations
Perform advisory valuation services to various business units on an ad hoc basis
Generate detailed materials and responses for auditors, inquires and surveys
Prepare documentation in support of compliance with SOX and external audit requirements
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years of related work experience in the investment fund industry with an investment management company, or with strategic or financial consultants, or with an audit firm is required
Experience in building valuation models (DCF, Comp Multiple and Option Models)
Experience with capital markets/credit valuations preferred (ex. illiquid investments, bank loans, mezzanine loans, and equity)
Demonstrated technical, analytical and problem-solving skills under the pressure of tight deadlines
Experience in contributing to the planning and management of projects by defining goals, setting timelines and resolving roadblocks
Understanding of Alternative Investment strategies and products
Apply modeling techniques to challenging, real-world problems
Strong functional background working with excel
Familiarity with financial services applications (CapIQ, Bloomberg, etc.) a plus
Strong communication, reporting and presentation skills
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
Finance, Valuations or Investment Banking training program preferred
CFA professional designation or working towards preferred but not required
