Primary Purpose:
Reporting to the Transformation Office Finance Leader the position of Finance Manager, Transformation Office (TO) Finance, is responsible for providing independent 3rd-party review of initiatives by evaluating the business case and interpreting valuation guidelines while also supporting Initiative Owners to ensure value hits the bottom line.
Primary Duties:
- Independent Review of Initiatives & Business Cases / Support Workstream Leaders:
- Provides independent third-party review of initiatives to validate the impact and pressure-test the assumptions of the business cases. Review is performed with a focus on validating that the savings will drop to the bottom-line results (hard savings)
- Sets a high bar in validating the initiatives
- Performs timely review of initiatives to support Initiative Owners (IOs) in meeting their stage-gate due dates
- Supports IOs by providing valuable feedback for improving business cases as well as supporting their understanding of the Wave & stage-gate requirements
- Works with Workstream Leaders to proactively discuss initiatives in advance of due dates; works collaboratively to align on matters
- Attends weekly Transformation Office meetings for assigned workstreams and provides input, as needed
- Interpretation of Valuation Guidelines / Creation of Case Law & Consistency:
- Develops a strong understanding of the valuation guidelines and works with TO finance team members to achieve consistent application of the guidelines
- Develops “case law” interpretation of guidelines consisting of specific initiative examples and the “rulings” and reasoning behind the conclusions. Utilizes the case law to ensure consistent application of the valuation guidelines
- Coaches IOs on the guidelines to promote an understanding of the valuation principles
- Maintains a high bar in approving initiatives and conveys concise reasoning to IOs / Workstream Leaders in instances where initiatives are rejected.
- Monthly Valuation Analysis (MVA):
- Reviews the monthly MVA reporting pack
- Works with BU CFOs and finance teams to analyze the data and ensure alignment between the transformation reporting and GMARs
- Develops an understanding of the MVA adjustments and work with IOs to make corrections, as needed
- Reviews actual variances to bankable plan to identify initiatives that are underperforming; works with IOs & Workstream Leaders to update forecasts and identify recovery plans for the underperforming initiatives
- Capital Appropriations Requests (CARs):
- Provides oversight and guidance to the Business Unit Capital Appropriations Process (CARs)
- Performs all Daptiv Admin duties (e.g. set up users, remove users, unlock accounts)
- Assists with the annual capital plan process for the region – coordinates training; review schedule; aligns with Business Unit FP&A on timing; Proposed investment level
- Reviews Capital Appropriation Requests submitted by the Business Unit – ensures accuracy and completeness, alignment with Daptiv, proper support for both costs and benefits
- Checks for alignment between Daptiv and Wave – ensures that Wave contains milestones that include creating and receiving approval on the CAR prior to moving to L3
- Other / General
- Prepares Wave reports and ad hoc reporting from Wave, as necessary
Job Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required
- Minimum 8 years of rich experience in Finance/Accounting and/or other areas of business operations
- Strong and broad-based knowledge and skills appropriate for consultation to all levels of management; ability to have difficult conversations.
- Sound analytical depth and accounting skills.
- The ability to influence and lead in driving change in the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a strong commitment to developing others.
- Strategic consulting skills which move beyond adherence to specific analytical tools and methodologies; the ability to “think outside the box,” generate alternative solutions for consideration, and provide comprehensive risk/benefit analysis on those alternatives.
- Project management experience and team leadership ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Should have ability to listen effectively, evaluate the most critical elements being communicated and communicate with individuals across the organization on an open and timely basis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Internet and E-Mail are required, Wave & HFM experience preferred but not required.
