Job Description

Responsible for pulling, packing and processing orders for shipping out via parcel carrier or Truck and receiving products and supplies for the Veterinary Distribution Department.

1st Shift - 6am - 2:30pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

Shipping (80% Time):

  • Pull & ship products to meet customer orders in a timely and economical fashion and according to written procedures.
  • Manage shipping expenses to minimize packaging costs while ensuring good customer presentation.
  • Assist in training other employees to assist in the picking and shipping function.
  • Assist in training other employees in how to pack and ship products.
  • Identify process improvements that will lead to greater efficiencies in the shipping operations.

Receiving (10% Time):

  • Unload shipment from carrier and ensure that the shipment reconciles with proper paperwork.
  • Process received shipments according to written procedures.
  • Identify process improvements that will lead to greater efficiencies in the receiving operations.

Warehousing (10% Time):

  • Provide input to the Asst. Logistics Manager on ways to improve the warehouse to be more economical to pick and ship from.
  • Monitor inventory levels and advises Asst. Logistics Manager of low inventories of product.
  • Organize storage of products to facilitate efficient picking of product for shipping customer shipments.
  • Ensure finished products are properly stored according to product label and inventory control procedures.
  • Miscellaneous projects assigned by the Asst. Logistics Manager, Logistics Manager, or the Director of AS Procurement and Logistics.
  • Work with all employees to maintain a clean and orderly-warehousing environment.
  • Perform daily check list on all forklifts in warehouse.
  • Assist with physical inventory.
