The Corporate Treasury team is looking for a talented and motivated Senior Manager of Supplier Finance. This position leads a global team with US and Non-US supervisors and finance analysts who provide strategic insights and counsel to Treasury/Finance and business segment leadership on supplier financial health, payment terms, supply chain finance, and structured trade finance solutions. This position ensures robust Treasury processes, measurements and governance are in place; serves on our Finance Leadership Development Program committee; and is recognized within Caterpillar as both an expert in Treasury/Finance and Supplier Finance topics.
What You Will Do:
Primary Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assess, monitor, and report business insights about Caterpillar’s suppliers’ financial health. Conduct financial deep dives, sensitivity analysis, and scenario modeling when needed. Develop supplier risk mitigation strategies, process and approve non-standard payment terms, expedited payments and advance payments.
- Partner with the business to identify opportunities for structured trade finance solutions, evaluate sourcing decisions, as well as manage and report on supplier guarantees and loans. Serve as the global process owner for the supply chain finance program. This position regularly interacts with Vice President & Group CFO’s, Vice President & Directors of Procurement and other senior leaders.
- Have strong leadership skills and a clear vision of how team goals align with Treasury, business segment, and enterprise strategies. Provide guidance and participate in career progress planning with team members.
- The position manages a work unit of management/professional employees where monitoring and reviewing subordinates’ work is required as well as training, developing and mentoring. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluations of subordinates. The person in this position also serves on the Finance Leadership Development Program committee.
- Have ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences. Excellent human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business.
- Communicate effectively across a variety of audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations.
- Have practical Treasury/Finance experience and demonstrate success in both leadership assignments and project leadership. Must demonstrate creativity, foresight, business judgment and outstanding Treasury/Finance knowledge along with sensitivity to enterprise financial impact.
- Possess very high business acumen and deep expertise related to global financial products, industry standards, applicable regulations, financial markets, economics, banking, finance, and accounting.
- Manage the team’s compliance processes and keep up to date with new industry trends, changing technology and regulations. Integrate changes to global processes, as appropriate.
What You Have:
- Financial Markets: Knowledge of the products, types, competitors, customer base, major issues and regulatory considerations in the financial markets; ability to apply financial market knowledge to various business environments.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
- Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Treasury Management: Knowledge of the principles and methods of managing treasury; ability to use tools, techniques and processes to maximize the value of an organization's financial assets and revenue while minimizing risk.
- Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
- Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Extensive knowledge in supplier financial analysis and management
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, insurance or business administration
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners
- Demonstrated commitment to ensuring a strong compliance culture (organization, policies and procedures) highly desired
- Expert knowledge in organizational leadership and leading diverse teams
Additional Details:
- This position can be located at our offices in Peoria, IL; or Irving, TX
- Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify

- This role requires up to 40% travel depending on leader & team locations
