Job Description:

Major accountabilities

Assist in Private Equities and Alternatives asset portfolio management

  • Assist the Portfolio Manager to manage the HuBS GA Private Equities and Alternatives portfolios in accordance to in-house philosophy, risk appetite and objectives
  • Work closely with the Portfolio Manager and the Private Equities team in SLC North America on pipeline and portfolio execution and management
  • Study and understand the economic, sector and market trends
  • Analyse, construct, select, source and execute funds and transactions
  • Carry out due diligence on the security / fund and monitor the sizes and pipeline
  • Monitor the performance, risks and compliance of the portfolios; including prepare and present reports to the local IMC and ALCOs
  • Achieve the target size and returns according to the Investment Plan with risk limits and portfolio constraints
  • Liaise with the Insurance Portfolio Management Team to ensure funding availability and pre-trade compliance
  • Integrate ESG into the investment processes
  • Coordinate or assist in the coordination of the end-to-end new deal implementation process (recommend manager/fund selection, liaise with key stakeholders to sign off the proposed transactions, onboarding process)
  • Work closely with Legal team and external lawyers to execute transactions
  • Work with the insurance functions including ALM, Finance, Actuarial, Risk & Compliance to diversify the portfolio and onboard new asset classes
  • Act as a conduit between HuBS, Regional Office and SLC for private equities and alternatives
  • Maintain relationships with:
    • Private equities fund managers globally
    • Alternatives asset managers globally
    • Sell-side analysts
    • Alternatives law firms with Legal Team

Assist in the development of alternatives HNW asset solution and other insurance products

  • Assist the Portfolio Manager in the design and implementation of HNW Alternatives Asset Solution for HuBS
  • Provide investment support on the development and implementation of insurance products (eg, Investment Linked Product, Variable Universal Life etc)

Private equities and alternatives reporting and analytics

  • Monitor the performance, risks and compliance of the portfolios; including prepare and present reports to the local IMC and ALCOs
  • Maintain e-front system with SLC

Ad-hoc

  • Participate in ad-hoc investment related projects (eg, Project AIM, M&As, special projects etc)
  • Work on special initiatives or transactions as required

Preferred skills/knowledge

  • Has in-depth knowledge and understanding of private equities and alternative investments
  • Fund management industry, knowing how to select best fit managers
  • Insurance investment management a plus
  • Bloomberg
  • Other Alternatives data (eg, Preqin)

Qualifications

  • The minimum education level is a Bachelor's Degree obtained from a recognizable university

  • At least 7 years of related working experience in financial industry with experience in leading and managing people
  • Other educational or professional qualifications like CFA, CAIA, MBA, Accounting and Actuarial is an advantage although not required
