The role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to join our team in the inpatient unit at St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital Griffith.

This role will be casual and will be pivotal in assisting nursing staff provide care for patients to meet their activities of daily living around hygiene, mobility and nutrition.

At all times Assistants in Nursing will work within their Scope of Practice and at the direction of Division 1 Registered Nurse or a Division 2 Endorsed Enrolled Nurse as part of the nursing care team. Assistants in Nursing retain responsibility for their own action and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions.

Your skills and experience:

  • Provision of support to the nursing team in the delivery of patient care in an acute care environment as directed by the Registered Nurse
  • Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses with patient care interventions as directed
  • Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required
  • Communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members in accordance with the appropriate protocol
  • Must be able to work well within a team setting
  • Able to take direction from team leaders
  • Be able to communicate effectively with patients and other team members
  • Flexible
  • Obtained a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance in Acute Care
  • At least two years’ experience in an Acute Health Care and or Aged Care Facility is essential.

Desirable Requirements:

  • To have or are working toward a Certificate 3 in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) or equivalent.
  • Medical/Surgical experience would be beneficial but not essential
