An excellent opportunity now exists for an experienced Accountant to help drive important pieces of work while key team members are partially involved in project work. Reporting to the Financial Controller Shared Services, you will be responsible for driving transitions of work between team members and supporting accounting leaders in a variety of tasks.  We require an experienced and flexible individual who is keen to help, has strong problem solving ability and wants to learn about our diverse organisation. Our division provides operational Accounting and other Financial Services to the business units of RAC and in doing so contribute to the operational performance of the Group.

We are offering a 1 year term contract. Primarily operating from West Perth office with an additional location in Joondalup, as well as the opportunity to work from home.  

What will you be doing?                       

• Leading transitions of work tasks from one team to another and supporting individuals involved in the transitions. 
• Partner with team leaders to ensure we’re assigning tasks and workloads in a fair and pragmatic way
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and helping staff implement these
• Supporting as required for month end accounting processes for Shared Services and Group accounting transactions/journals for RAC Business Divisions
• Preparation of assigned balance sheet reconciliations as per agreed timelines. Includes correct recognition and treatment of assets and liabilities
• Performing other duties as and when required by the Group and or Operational Accounting Managers to ensure that the Financial Services team meets its objectives
• Adhering to relevant financial processes and procedures
• Offers the opportunity to learn and assist across different business units in the Group.

What are we looking for in you?

• Significant experience in a qualified accountant role in a large organisation or division.
• Tertiary Qualifications in Commerce/Business majoring in accounting.
• Professionally qualified as a CA or CPA or similar.
• Management and Financial Accounting
• Knowledge of tax related compliance for BAS, FBT & Income Tax Returns
• Strong reconciliation skills
• Advanced Excel skills. (exposure to Power Query would be an advantage)
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Engaging in effective teamwork.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
• Developing and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders, and external groups.
• Motivating self and team to achieve business outcomes
• Ability to operate effectively in a Values/Behaviour based organisation and role model Behaviours.
