Position Summary
This Senior Data Scientist role on the finance analytics team will focus on building and deploying analytical models that help the PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Management) business meet its client and pharmacy guarantees. This team works on forecasting and optimization models to optimize drug level pricing tied to 95M Americans. The outcome of these models (recommended prices) have delivered over $150M value to Caremark.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and/or use algorithms and statistical predictive models and determine analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes.

  • Perform analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and/or complex business problems utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses and broad knowledge of the organization and/or industry. 

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand their problems and goals, develop predictive modeling, statistical analysis, data reports and performance metrics.

  • Develop and participate in presentations and consultations to existing and prospective constituents on analytics results and solutions. 

  • Interact with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization. 

  • Use your strong knowledge in algorithms and predictive models to investigate problems, detect patterns and recommend solutions. 

  • Produce efficient and elegant code to explore, examine and interpret large volumes of data in various forms.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience; or PhD with fellowship experience in:

    • Extracting actionable insights from the analysis and interpreting outcomes of complex models to present to business audiences including technical, non-technical, and senior leaders

    • Preparing data for analysis, working with data engineering team to create modeling dataset, assess completeness and quality of data, and perform feature engineering

    • Communicating effectively and confidently with business partners, project team members, and senior management

    • Working with data and have a strong understanding of analytics and how it is leveraged within the healthcare/retail industry

    • 2+ years of experience applying modern machine learning techniques to build predictive models for both classification and regression problems

    • 2+ years’ experience with general linear models including regression techniques and optimization models

  • 3 or more years of experience in Python or other modeling environments

  • 3 or more years of experience with SQL

  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources

  • Demonstrated proficiency in most areas of mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling and in-depth specialization in some areas


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team

  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners

  • Ability to anticipate and prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur

  • Experience with statistical measurements including experimental design, test and control selection, propensity matching, etc.

  • Experience in deploying ML models to production and developing CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform, Vertex AI or similar is a plus



Education

Master’s Degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Math, Operation Research, Statistics, Health Policy, or related field (Master’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$101,970.00 - $222,480.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
