Job Description

Our mission at Whole Foods Market is to nourish people and the planet, but also- future talent. We are excited to offer our 2025 Summer Internship Program to purpose-driven students seeking to make a difference in their work and in their community. Our internship program is based in Austin, Texas, down the street from our original Whole Foods Market store. Our interns don’t get us coffee; instead, they enjoy free coffee and tea while working on meaningful projects that impact our internal and external stakeholders.

About the Team: 

The Business, Customer, and Marketing Analytics (BCAMA) Team is responsible for reporting on holiday periods, promotional events, customer trends, competitive data, new stores, and much more. Using mediums like PowerPoint decks and White Papers, the BCAMA Team is a source of truth on major events and thought leaders that give guidance on how to improve future performance. The team is continually expanding to include new functions and data sources that increase breadth and depth of areas of analysis. 

The ideal candidate, that will work under the Business Analytics Pillar, is always curious and continually asks “why” when reviewing data to find the answer to unique trends. They are a self-directed, innovative thinker with a strong attention to detail who can work well with ambiguous requests and provide the right insights to solve problems. 

 

Intern Responsibilities May Include: 

  • Effectively gather and synthesize data from 1st and 3rd party sources (Nielsen, PlacerAI), and draft presentations (Tableau, PowerPoint) to communicate data to partner teams 
  • Act as a conduit to integrate strategic insights – covering Memorial Day, July 4th post-mortem, competitive reviews, as well as new store opening reports 
  • Serve as an analytical point of contact for special projects, ad hoc analysis, and other initiatives.  
  • Assists project team with various activities including data gathering via data analysis 
  • Analysis supporting operational planning (OP) 

 

You Will Bring: 

  • Effectively translate complex data and analyses to all levels within the organization to generate insights that drive action. 
  • Strong story telling ability via verbal and written communication 
  • Ability to influentially present information and respond to questions in one-on-one interaction, meeting/group presentation situations involving senior leadership 
  • Ability to utilize advanced analytical methods to identify patterns, relationships, and trends across multiple data sources.  
  • Familiar with aspects of pricing, merchandising, retail operations, financial operations, profitability drivers, and reporting.  
  • Comfortable using data to provide answers when the problem is loosely defined or structured. Requires limited guidance to frame business problems to develop/iterate on approaches to analysis. 
  • Synthesizes complex data from various sources to support the development of a narrative which can be understood by a broad audience. 
  • Experience with working with market syndicated data (e.g. Nielsen), visual analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau) is a plus. Microsoft Excel familiarity with data basics, structure, and relationship required 
  • Experience querying data from large enterprise databases. SQL proficiency a plus; not required 

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Current 1st year MBA or masters student preferred  
  • Consulting, CPG, retail, or other insight-related experience preferred 

 

Internship Program Details: 

Our Summer 2025 Internships are paid for 10-weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) between June 2, 2025-August 8, 2025. The internships will be based in Austin, Texas on a hybrid schedule and are not open to remote candidates at this time. 

 

Program Highlights:  

  • Weekly Summer Event Series: Weekly events for interns to connect with one another and get immersed in the Whole Foods Market culture. Previous events have included distribution center tours, cheese tastings, volunteering at the Central Texas Food Bank, supplier visits, women in leadership panel and more! 

  • Intern Buddy: Opportunity to be paired with a Whole Foods Market team member outside of our team that can be a go to resource during your summer. 

  • Team Member Coffee Chats: Network 1:1 with Whole Foods Market team members in your field or area of interest for a 20 – 30-minute coffee chat. 

  • Internship Expo: End of internship presentations where you can share what projects you worked on during the summer with the entire company!
