Responsible for designing, developing, and managing activities for a specific software product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Serves as the central resource with design, process, test, quality, and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Translates user requirements into executable work items that the software engineering team can implement in the product. Has the detailed technical knowledge necessary to explain feature requirements to developers and work with them to deliver these product improvements to end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands the overall market, competitors, and open source technologies.

  • Works closely with stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.

  • Translates market and stakeholder needs into product requirements and definitions.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to guide feature development and prioritization.

  • Translates user requirements into executable and workable feature items with the software engineering team.

  • Acts as an advocate for the stakeholders during specification and development stages.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of complex software systems, including enterprise, middleware, firmware, and embedded systems.

  • Adept at collecting and analyzing input from multiple sources (customers, sales, engineering, marketing, competitor, and management).

  • Significant experience in software development, systems engineering, or software product management.

  • Ability to understand and deal well with rapid development cycles and remain flexible in the face of uncertainty.

  • Ability to not only communicate in software engineering specific jargon and non-technical language but also translate between the two.

  • Expertise with Python and DevOps Technologies

  • Azure DevOps Pipeline , terraform , Kubernetes


Scope & Impact

  • Decisions and actions typically impact multiple departments and may have downstream repercussions lasting multiple weeks.

  • Advises various internal, partner, and customer teams on the needs and requirements of target markets.

  • Works closely with architects and technology leads, directly engaging with internal and external software development teams.


Complexity

  • Moderate: Some senior management interface; frequent cross-functional/cross-organizational interaction on execution of tactics.

  • Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team or project

  • Leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence. Typically 3-7 years of relevant experience.
