This position is for Per Diem for weekend coverage. 


Our Wound Care team is looking to add a Registered Nurse. This role is perfect for someone that is passionate about healing wounds and protecting our skin. Your duties will include: 

Providing specialized direct and indirect care to patients with select disorders of the integumentary, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary system or who are at risk for pressure injury. 

Being responsible for ongoing professional development of nurses in the areas of wounds, ostomies, continence, skin care screening, prevention, and treatment.  

Providing consultation in the clinical field of wound, ostomies, incontinence, skin care and pressure ulcers. 

Providing education to patients with wounds, ostomies, incontinence, and pressure ulcers.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessment for those patients within scope of practice. Collaborates with the physician and multi-disciplinary care team to coordinate ongoing patient care. Uses data to develop and implement nursing interventions as appropriate to meet patient care needs and facilitate the discharge process. Performs wound/ostomy/continence/skin care based on sound nursing theory, scientific principles, evidence-based practice, professional judgment, and individual patient needs.
  • Follows patient along continuum of care. Assesses and triages patients appropriately. Within scope of practice, monitors and documents patient's condition, effectiveness and timeliness of care and/or interventions; evaluates, updates and revises plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. Delegates appropriate components of the nursing care plan to other members of the nursing team.
  • Assess educational needs of the patient and family/significant other considering cultural issues, age appropriate and other special concerns. Provides teaching and educational material to patient and/or family members/significant others concerning subject matter as appropriate for the specific patient need which may include diagnosis, safe and proper use of equipment, medications, self-care, or nutritional needs. Validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching.
  • Designs, directs, implements and evaluates educational offerings based on knowledge, skills and learning levels of nursing staff for wound/ostomy/continence/skin patient care. Works with the Nursing Institute to identify learning needs of nursing personnel.
  • Others duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BSN required.

Certifications:

  • Current licensure as an RN required
  • 24 months to obtain wound ostomy continence certifications through the Wound Ostomy Continence Certification Board (WOCNCB)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification required

Competencies (Complexity of Work):

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work the minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year recent RN experience required.
  • 2 years of recent RN experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
  • Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
