About the role

This role offers an excellent opportunity for you to fully utilise, as well as expand, your financial skills and business management knowledge. The Financial Accountant is part of an accounting team of 5 and a wider Finance team of 11 and will take responsibility for supporting day-to-day operation of a range of group financial and management accounting matters. This role is ideally suited to a pro-active and ambitious qualified accountant who is looking to further their career and personal development. The wider finance team is diverse and talented, with a supportive team culture. As we are now part of the stamps.com group, there is a great opportunity to develop and progress within the company.

What will you be doing?

• Monthly & Quarterly Reporting

  • Reviewing and analysing the expenses for the Metapack Group posted by the accounts payable team. Including variance analysis and commentary where needed.
  • Expense recognition: collaboration with the accounting team to ensure appropriate prepayments and accruals.
  • Review and control of the individual balance sheets for entities within the Group.
  • Intercompany invoicing and eliminations.
  • Collaborating with the accounting team to ensure the P&L and Balance Sheet are closed by the deadlines given.
  • Preparation and submission of UK VAT returns for the Group
  • Complete National Office of Statistics surveys

  Audit & Compliance

  • Monthly review of SOX controls and signoffs for expenses and related balance sheet items.
  • Review vendor payment listings on fortnightly basis for accuracy and appropriate approvals
  • Assist on SOX audit processes

What are we looking for?

• Prior job experience as a financial accountant.
• Qualified accountant preferred but not essential.
• Strong excel skills.
• A high degree of attention to detail and self-organisation skills.
• Good communication skills.
