Retail Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank and Bankwest Retail – from product platforms for our customer, to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing.

Within Retail Technology you’ll be joining our Quality Engineering Centre of Excellence team, where you’ll be a technical leader driving Quality Engineering and embedding the shift left approach across different squads for our retail web and mobile channels.
You’ll provide advice, guidance and expertise in embedding quality engineering, automation testing, reliability and observability into the design and build of software. When needed you will be able to jump in and be hands on in collaborating with your engineering peers on solving problems and realizing opportunities. You’ll be a passionate advocate of quality within the engineering community and be ready to respectfully challenge the status quo.
As a Staff Quality Engineer, you’ll engage stakeholders, understanding their current state of maturity, understand their challenges and design the right tailored solution for them as we accelerate towards a true DevSecOps model within the organisation. This could be a high-level overview of strategy, or deep technical sessions with our digital engineers where you can lead by example.

Are adept senior technical experts in Quality Engineering, digital application and system design across a large enterprise
Bring their wealth of experience working on direct-to-customer solutions that have a large eclectic customer base – ideally with a mobile-first approach
Enjoy partnering with small agile squads to guide, influence and help them move better code faster
Come from a full cycle engineering environment with a true passion for driving quality engineering throughout the software lifecycle – it’s not just about testing!
Tech Skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
Full Cycle engineering (design, build, run and manage)
Full stack technologies and coding languages such as: C#, Python, Angular, React, Swift
Testing Frameworks such as: Selenium, Appium, Playwright, Karate DSL, NUnit, Mocha and/or Jest
Test Automation across the technical stack: Web, Mobile, API (REST, Graphql) and/or Performance (Gatling, JMeter, K6)
CI/CD pipelining (we use TeamCity and are moving to GitHub Actions)
Observability, Reliability, Monitoring and Automation tooling (we are moving towards Prometheus and OpenTelemetry)
Cloud (AWS, Azure)
