Overview:

Neuberger Berman believes that material environmental, social and governance (ESG) characteristics are an important driver of long-term investment returns from both an opportunity and a risk mitigation perspective. We also understand that for many of our clients, the impact of their portfolio is an important consideration in conjunction with investment performance. The Stewardship & Sustainable Investing team sits across asset classes and is responsible for deepening Neuberger Berman’s commitment to ESG by integrating material ESG factors across fixed income, equities, and private investment strategies, as well as developing and launching new impact investing strategies. The team works with clients around the world to understand their impact objectives and to develop innovative investment solutions and thought leadership. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team. The role is intended for an experienced professional in financial services and/or strategy with an entrepreneurial attitude and strong interest in ESG and impact investing. The successful candidate will work directly with the Stewardship & Sustainable Investing team, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Stewardship & Sustainable Investing. The individual would have exposure to colleagues across the firm.

Responsibilities:

Support the deeper integration of ESG analysis into fundamental equity and credit research across the investment platform through the identification of emerging material ESG topics.

Contribute end-to-end support of one or more new impact investing strategies, including working with portfolio managers and research analysts, reviewing fundamental research and impact data, developing impact measurement and reporting.

Contribute to related research and thought leadership activities to assist the Stewardship & Sustainable Investing team with client requests, external presentations, and media and marketing activities.

Requirements:

  • MBA or equivalent Master’s candidate
  • Winter 2025 or Spring 2026 graduation
  • Bachelor’s degree with a record of high academic achievement
  • 3-5 years professional experience (preferably in management consulting, investment banking, and/or asset management)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, creative, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, driving multiple projects to completion in a fast paced environment
  • Collaborative team player with ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial setting within an established firm
  • Prior experience in or strong demonstrated interest in ESG or impact investing, with familiarity of industry frameworks and terminology

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $120,000-$140,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
