Do you have experience accounting for crude, gasoline or diesel inventories? Are you looking to put your accounting expertise to work in a collaborative and business-oriented team?

We are looking for an inventory analyst to gain deep understanding of refined products inventory flows and processes of our downstream business. You’ll collaborate across the business with supply operations, upstream and marketing accounting, and other key stakeholders. You’ll gain deep understanding of inventory flows and pricing data and provide analysis and insight to support financial reporting as you help progress our digital transformation. As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to learn the current processes in the SAP S4 cloud system.

This role will provide the opportunity to gain deep knowledge of our refineries, terminals, retail and wholesale sites. The role offers learning opportunities in understanding our integrated value chain and the refined products markets.

Minimum Requirements:         

  • Five years of relevant experience in the energy industry

  • A Bachelor’s degree, in business, accounting, economics, or other relevant education

  • Working towards or possess a Financial Designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) with a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles or in process of obtaining one

  • Excel skills including pivot table, v-lookup, etc.

  • Some knowledge of the process inherent in oil and gas exploration, production, and refining

Responsibilities:

  • Execute the refined products and LPGs month end cycle, including analysis related to product costing, inventory flows, purchase, sales, intercompany transactions, and intercompany profit eliminations and prepare accounting entries if needed

  • Communicate and align with the supply, trading and optimization front office groups

  • Prepare monthly performance management reports for the Downstream business and effectively communicating financial performance and drivers

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Manages data gathering process for key accounting adjustments and various reporting requirements

  • Support the SAP S4 additional development and system and process improvements

  • Understand key business value drivers and performance metrics providing insight to the business

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
