The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Senior Program Manager to support our Where it is Needed Most and Training Services Programs.   This is a work-from-home position, and candidates can reside anywhere in the continental United States.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The Fundraising Programs and Segment Strategy unit is the central office through which high-quality, consistent fundraising programs and platforms are created that reflect the organization’s fundable strategic opportunities. It is also the primary office through which individual, corporate, and foundation donor strategies are developed to maximize fundraising locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. 

To support cross segment fundraising and deliver value to fundraising relationship managers, The Senior Program Manager will oversee the development and execution of the Where It’s Needed Most and Training Services fundraising programs. They will work directly with fundraising teams across the country to support their fundraising efforts, providing resources, tools, and best practices. Experience in fundraising and program management is necessary.  

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:

  • Assists with the successful planning, design, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of fundraising program(s) in consultation with supervisor to achieve revenue targets.
  • Creates, maintains, and evaluates guidance, cultivation, sales, and stewardship materials, tools, and prospect management resources.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting, data analysis for the assigned programs to evaluate trends and opportunities.
  • Serves as an organizational and subject matter expert on assigned fundraising programs.
  • Creates effective internal and external communications plans and delivers in-person and virtual training.
  • Works closely with fundraisers to maximize the fundraising opportunity.
  • Works with donors as needed to facilitate giving and execute benefits to meet fundraising goals.
  • Collect and analyze data, identify areas of need and/or improvement, and develop recommendations for program improvement. Develop reports for management review.
  • During Major Disasters: Provides surge capacity to the team, which may include supporting another program or Disaster field assignment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Business, Logistics Management, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven years related experience working with a nonprofit in fundraising, marketing, logistics and/or program management.
  • Experience with fundraising principles and techniques.
  • A high degree of organizational, analytical, and project management skills, including the ability to anticipate risks, analyze and manage data, problem solve, and develop strategic and creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, prioritize, articulate, and execute strategies in a complex and changing environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and negotiation.
  • Motivation, strong initiative and ability to foster collaboration across multiple teams. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple perspectives to achieve program goals.
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Ability to perform and thrive under pressure in a rapidly changing and multidimensional environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation is necessary.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required, and with Salesforce is desired.
  • Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs.

*Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION: 

The salary range for this position is $88,000 -$98,000. 

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
