About you and this role
 

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Manager for Global Travel Management, Corporate Aviation, and Customer & Business Events! This position can be located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX.

In this role, you will create value for Dow by defining sourcing opportunities, developing and aligning sourcing strategies, leveraging supplier relationships, analyzing market conditions, and negotiating with suppliers and internal partners to optimize sustained value for Dow. This requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of the discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. You will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

You will need to understand your discipline's best practices and how they relate to others. You may need to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should also be able to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus with others.

It is your responsibility to analyze and resolve complex problems, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your own team and other related teams and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the negotiation, execution and implementation of commercial agreements and related work processes in accordance with the strategies within the commercial area and/or geography.
  • Use influential leadership to elevate the performance of the workgroup.
  • Utilize business acumen and leverage best practices to drive value from the market and influence stakeholders.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of suppliers and relevant market developments such as mergers and acquisitions, financial status and changes in key personnel.  Communicate where applicable to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, and effectively manage quality, service & product performance issues with suppliers.
  • Work across cultures and geographies, as the position serves numerous legal entities across the company.
  • Utilization of data analysis skills to effectively identify value opportunities.
  • Utilize available electronic Sourcing tools (e.g. Zycus) to the fullest capability, to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Purchasing process.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or at least 10 years of relevant working experience or relevant military experience at a U.S. E6 rank or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • A minimum requirement for this US-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of Source to Pay.
  • Experience in travel management or the travel industry.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work independently, receiving minimal guidance.
  • Project Management: May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives.
  • Influential Leadership: Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • IT Purchasing: Adeptly use I/T applications (SAP, Ariba etc.) to execute the Source to Pay work process – Diamond Systems and associated systems (Zycus, MDG etc.)
  • Negotiation: Effective negotiator and ability to persuade others (internal and external clients) through effective communication skills.
  • Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills across Source to Pay colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Data Analytics: Strong data analysis skills.
  • Professional Ethics: Exhibition of strong work ethic and responsiveness to facilitate excellent Customer Experience for stakeholders.
