This role sits within the CBA Retail Banking Services (RBS) Strategy and Transformation function, which is accountable for defining the strategic roadmap for the Retail Bank and driving the retail bank transformation to deliver on improved customer outcomes. The Strategy and Transformation team oversees the ongoing development of the RBS strategy and transformation by advising and facilitating RBS leadership team discussions, preparing materials for the CBA Retail and Executive Leadership Teams and the Board, and by collaborating on projects with leaders across RBS and the Group.

Do work that matters:

The Senior Manager will report directly to the RBS Strategy Lead (Executive Manager). The successful candidate will be leading and defining the RBS strategy and driving the retail bank transformation to deliver on improved customer outcomes.

Responsibilities include Identifying key opportunities and making recommendations that will improve customer experience and optimise ways of working to transform business and customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing the strategies to improve customer outcomes through transforming the organisations way of working and optimising resources.

  • Deep understanding of and analysis of customer and business data and metrics to inform organisational decisions and make recommendations that will improve customer outcomes and optimise ways of working.

  • Build constructive collaborative relationships with product and channel owners and across the bank, supporting these owners to deliver enhancements and ensuring appropriate trade-offs between customer and commercial outcomes.

  • Develop strategy components and solutions to improve customer experience across the retail bank- this will include working with inflight or new teams to ensure positive impacts to customers are being developed as well as owning a range of strategic initiatives within the team.

  • Leading projects that cut across multiple lines of business – using innovative problem-solving techniques to get the best solution and optimal stakeholder engagement.

  • Adopt and support the retail bank in new Agile work practices through analysing and evaluating current systems and cadences and make recommendation to improve ways of working and optimise planning and prioritisation to support delivery of customer outcomes.

  • Guide multi-disciplinary teams to achieve transformation goals.

  • Propose solutions to improve outcomes and ways of working based on internal listening and datasets, defining the key focus areas for the retail bank.

  • Track performance metrics against objectives to drive progress within quarterly planning and enable senior stakeholders to understand our current position and projections around agreed metrics.

  • Running key transformation forums with senior leaders, including content preparation and recommendations to further optimise outcomes being delivered.

  • Produce formal papers including board packs, dashboards and papers including recommendations.

  • Manage appropriate and effective operational risk within the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in corporate strategy, business development, top-tier management consulting, or similar.

  • Tertiary education in business, economics, science, engineering, law or similar fields.

  • Ability to take ownership of complex strategic cases, with demonstrated structured problem-solving capability and hypothesis-led thinking and analysis.

  • Deep understanding of the Retail Banking industry would be highly regarded.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently while leading high-performing teams.
