Job Description
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Engineer will be the lead engineer for the IKO Calgary Shingle Plant. This role involves providing 24/7 technical support to plant utilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The Plant Engineer will implement and execute capital projects and process improvements to drive sustainable production output.

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL;
Provide engineering oversight to facility infrastructure (e.g., boilers, HVAC, compressed air) and all process equipment, working closely with the Maintenance team.
Manage projects from design to fabrication and commissioning, ensuring regulatory compliance. Typical projects include infrastructure upgrades and improvements to mechanical process systems supporting production lines.
Develop and execute plans to address all facets of plant operation (e.g., environmental issues, cost reduction, equipment installation, optimizing utilities and energy consumption) to ensure smooth plant operations and generate measurable benefits.
Support various environmental programs/areas (e.g., hazardous materials/waste management, solid waste management, environmental noise management, air quality management) and develop and sustain the environmental management system.
Lead project management activities: define scope, manage risks, create project schedules and budgets, measure and control project performance, monitor and control changes, and ensure successful project closeout.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of plant engineering experience in capital investment, improvements in manufacturing systems, preventive maintenance, infrastructure maintenance, and troubleshooting of process equipment.
Hands-on engineer with a track record of success in a fast-paced, continuous production environment.
Experience working effectively with all team members, including Maintenance, Production, Corporate Engineering, and Corporate Health, Safety & Environment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience working with draftsmen.
Strong maintenance management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with equipment, facility, and BAS validation, operation, and maintenance.
