Job Purpose/Scope: The purpose of these roles at Young Touchstone are to aid the production process of finished product. Examples of roles that support production are: Final Assembly-Production Operator, Welder, CNC Machine Operator, Maintenance Technician, and Material Handler.

Assembly-Production Operator

  • Includes positions in Assembly, CAC, Roll, Fin/Tube, Cuprobraze, and AALS departments.
  • Positions parts according to blueprints.  (must be able to read blueprints)
  • Bolts, clips, screws, or otherwise fasten parts together.
  • Removes small quantities of metal with hand tools to produce close fit between parts. 
  • Hammers, measures, utilizes roller swager.

Welder

  • Welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as side frames, tanks, pressure vessels, and other weldments.
  • Positions, aligns, and fits components together. 
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. 
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or submerged arc welding equipment.

CNC-Fabrication Operator

  • Tends machines such as cut off saws, lathes, drill presses, and CNC, that cut, shape, and bend sheets, tubes, and structures.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. 
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece. 

Maintenance Technician

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. 
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. 
  • Installs, programs or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.

Materials Handler-Kitting

  • Drives industrial lift trucks to move product throughout facility.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Manually assembles (lift, place, use of hoist) kits of metal component parts for operation based upon product flow.
