Department Overview

The primary role of the FM Radio department is to ensure that all RF network elements are operating effectively and investigate and resolve any issues that arise to jeopardize this.
The nature of this task requires significant levels of co-operation with internal and external resources and the role has a high profile with customer counterparts.
It is required that in addition to interfacing with the Authority, members of this team regularly meet users of Nødnett when investigating reported faults and are able to represent MSI and their trade professionally and competently.
Engineers are to take ownership and progress alarm tickets and fault reports to resolution, liaising with other resources as and when required.
Knowledge transfer and recommendations to improve remote analysis by other members of Operations is expected.


Job Description

This position is performing 2nd line investigation into RF interference issues and engage with the Norwegian Communication Authority. This role also carries out drive testing and investigation into coverage related faults nationwide as well as participate in radio network optimisation workshops.
It is required that in addition to interfacing with the Authority, members of this team regularly meet users of Nødnett when investigating reported faults and are able to represent MSI and their trade professionally and competently. 
This position is also performing actual work out on sites and quality control of subcontractor site maintenance activities. Mast, antenna, and base station competence is required.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd Line technical support/training to the NOC relating to alarms and customer received reports of poor coverage.

  • Represent MSI in a technical capacity when interfacing with customers/Authority.

  • Assess and engage NKOM when required.

  • Provide support to 1st Line Engineers in diagnosis and rectification of faults.

  • Own and drive enhanced/escalated faults within MSI and towards other vendors.

  • Strive to ensure that all fault cases are handled within defined SLAs and update incidents regularly.

  • Assist with build/move of sites – site survey, configuration etc.

  • Be prepared to travel within Norway at short notice and remain away from home for a number of days.

  • Operate necessary support and test equipment competently – FSH3, FSH4 etc.

  • Perform drive tests and analyse site performance data and investigate accordingly


Basic Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience in applicable field

  • Fluent in Norwegian and English

  • Driving Licence (category B)

  • Security clearance to Secret or nothing restricting clearance when applied for.
