What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be accountable for overseeing the Continuous Improvement (CI) leads, Digital Manufacturing Associates, and Finite Schedulers. You will be responsible for leading and tracking digital initiatives in manufacturing, driving continuous improvements, and managing the finite schedule. This role is essential for Amgen North Carolina’s success and key in supporting operations towards a more digital future.

  • Lead and manage a team consisting of CI leads, Digital Manufacturing specialists, and Finite Schedulers.
  • Oversee and drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing operations, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Track and report on digital manufacturing initiatives and their impact on operations. Collect and govern ideas for future initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in digital manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ensure timely implementation and lifecycle management of digital projects, including validation and software or system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement digital solutions that support manufacturing operations.
  • Lead the development and execution of the finite schedule, ensuring optimal resource utilization and efficiency.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to digital manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for staff on digital manufacturing topics and continuous improvement practices.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP and other regulatory requirements in all activities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Analysis, or Computer Science experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Analysis, or Computer Science experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Analysis, or Computer Science experience OR
  • Master’s degree and 6 years of Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Analysis, or Computer Science experience OR
  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience

And

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with key digital technologies and data analytics systems (e.g., MES, ERP, Smartsheets, Data Visualization) and/or digital manufacturing technologies (e.g., AR/VR Technologies, Tableau, Databricks, AI).
  • Experience managing a team, leading and managing operations
  • Experience driving Continuous Improvement Initiatives and teams.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams towards the implementation of digital technologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to senior management and technical staff.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate business/user needs into user requirements for digital solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data/process performance analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in a GMP environment and familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Pro-active, results-oriented, and able to prioritize work to meet timelines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt quickly to changing demands.
