Business Overview:

The HP Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions (SPTS) is a unique and exciting end-to-end P&L business within HP that leverages existing Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) technology that it markets and sells to OEMs who develop specialty printers for specific field-of-use outside of HP’s core markets. These HP technologies and components encompass TIJ 4.0, TIJ 2.5, and TIJ 2.X technologies for multiple world-wide market segments including Coding & Marking, Late-Stage Packaging, Specialty Packaging, Label printing, Postage metering, Mail addressing, Direct Mail, Statements and Transaction printing. SPTS also develops Life Science dispensers which use TIJ technology to jet chemical reagents for biotech and pharmaceutical research industry.

The Marketing function within the SPTS business is comprehensive and comparable to small business management, covering the entire 4P marketing mix and all aspects of the P&L, and provides the opportunity for learning, ownership, significant contribution, and career development which can serve as a foundation into larger business management roles.

Role Description:

This Product Marketing Manager Role is for current release products and will be responsible for product lifecycle management based on TIJ 4.0 and TIJ 2X HP Technology. This role is responsible to manage an existing product portfolio from NPI/Launch through End of Life (EOL), develop and execute marketing strategies across the marketing 4PS, lead competitive assessment and response, and support sales with big deals and long-term price/volume contracts.  The role will interact directly with customers and collaborate across Marketing, Sales, Contracts, and Operations to maximize revenue and profit goals for the product portfolio.  The PLC Marketing manager will also have the opportunity to  learn and engage with future products and the R&D team.  

Responsibilities & Deliverables:

  • Become subject matter expert on assigned HP products, TIJ 4.0 and TIJ 2X and be familiar with competitive printing technologies, used in the market.

  • Be responsible for developing 4P marketing strategy for assigned segments/products, with focus on product lifecycle marketing and pricing management. Provide input for pricing strategy at NPIs and lead pricing strategy for current products within context of portfolio and competitive ecosystem, and material cost increases.

  • Conduct competitor research, assessment, and response options, working through insights from customers, Sales/Account managers, select industry tradeshows, and internet Lead Segment Ecosystem and Product Lifecycle (PLC) annual review for respective products, working with Sales, Operations, and Application Engineers.

  • Frame and lead strategy discussions on current product marketing options, especially around competitive positioning and pricing, and make clear recommendations supported by data and cross-functional input based on worldwide competitive landscape, HP portfolio, and business financial targets

  • Provide input for pricing strategy at NPIs and lead pricing strategy for current products within context of portfolio and competitive ecosystem, and material cost increases. Construct and test detailed pricing and P&L financial models to address multiple variables, sensitivity/elasticity, and scenarios, then make recommendations.

  • Manage product pricing exhibits and ecosystem, including promotional or contractual discounts.

  • Maintain pricing product exhibits for contracts in the HP systems.

  • Work with Sales to prepare product and pricing materials, and attend key account reviews with customers.

  • Drive and support FY financial goal achievement from managed current product portfolio. Provide input into Plan-of-Record (POR) and 5-year Long-Tern Plan (LTP) Complete marketing actions for product obsolescence checkpoints (EOL)

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Marketing, or other relevant field.  MBA a plus

  • 5+ years of hands-on Marketing or Product Development/Management experience

  • Financial experience involving forecasting, pricing, scenario planning, and pro forma P&L / business case development

  • Knowledge and experience with inks and/or TIJ printheads is welcomed

The base pay range for this role is $102,950 to $157,850 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
