Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with deep experience in Android application development with preference to custom hardware platforms. The ideal candidate is not only a strong individual contributor but also an advocate and mentor for AI-assisted software development, particularly with tools like GitHub Copilot or similar LLM-based coding accelerators. This individual will work within our existing engineering team to deliver high-quality features efficiently while promoting best practices in AI- enabled development workflows.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Android applications running on custom embedded hardware.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to design, review, and implement high- quality software solutions.
• Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and reduce cycle time.
• Act as an AI development evangelist—coach team members on effective AI tool usage, prompt engineering, and integration into daily workflows.
• Identify opportunities where AI-assisted tooling can streamline processes (coding, testing, documentation, code review).
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and troubleshooting sessions with the team.
• Provide clear communication, documentation, and knowledge transfer to internal teams throughout the engagement.

Required Technical Skills

• 4+ years of professional Android development experience, including:
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and how, why, and when to apply them.
• Familiarity with Android Framework, Android Services, and system-level debugging.

Demonstrated proficiency using AI development tools, including:

• GitHub Copilot (required)
• Gemini, Claude, or similar (preferred)

Proven ability to use AI tools to:

• Generate code efficiently
• Improve test coverage
• Refactor or document code

Assist in debugging and root-cause analysis

• Experience integrating with hardware interfaces, sensors, networking, or media pipelines is a plus.
• Strong Git experience and comfort working in large, shared codebases.

AI Evangelist / Productivity Enhancement Expectations

Candidates should have:

•     A history of actively using AI tools in day-to-day development with measurable productivity benefits.
•     The ability to teach, demonstrate, and advocate for AI-assisted workflows to existing software team members.
•     Knowledge of effective prompting techniques and best practices for AI-driven coding.
•     A proactive mindset toward continuous improvement and process optimization.

Soft Skills & Collaboration

•     Strong communication and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
•     Comfortable advising developers of varying experience levels on both Android and AI tooling.
•     Self-driven, able to operate independently while aligning with team direction.
•     Strong organizational habits, documentation discipline, and ownership mindset.
•     Ability to come up to speed quickly on an existing architecture
