Product Owner Manager (160 Level) – the role

In this player-coach role, you will act as both Product Owner (PO) Manager and hands-on technical leader for AI-powered, clinical analytics products working closely with a high-performance group of developers who design and develop new products, features, feature enhancements, and bug fixes that serve an array of scenarios related to clinical trials and other lines of IQVIA’s pharma/tech business.

Collaborating with Product Management and Product Engineering you will help drive the technical product strategy and delivery. Additionally, you will manage and mentor Product Owners (POs), ensuring alignment with the product roadmap and technical vision to ensure process and implementation consistency across the PO team with the needs of the business, stakeholders, and users, at the forefront.

Your typical activities will include:

Mentorship and Team Leadership: Management and Leadership

  • Manage, mentor and coach Product Owners, helping them to achieve their career goals and align with the product strategy and technical roadmaps.
  • Lead scrum teams in producing solutions that provide business value, delivered iteratively adhering to the sprint and Program Increment (PI) schedule.
  • Develop and maintain accurate product metrics. Familiarity with DORA metrics a plus.
  • Advocate for product-led organization policies based on engineering best practices.
  • Lead and collaborate on initiatives to improve ACOE products and processes.

Product Ownership and Management:

  • Lead the decomposition process from product features to vertically oriented user stories.
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and balance trade-offs between feature work and enhancements, non-functional requirements, defects, and technical debt.
  • Support product offering documentation, including formal communications, enablement materials, and presentations for executive leadership and to meet regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct and participate in agile ceremonies.

Technical and Product Strategy:

  • In collaboration with Software Engineering leadership, Product Management, and the Agile Delivery & Operational Excellence team, define and drive the product delivery strategy.
  • Work closely with the members of the scrum team to evaluate product and integration strategies.
  • Guide user experience and development activities in alignment with the product roadmap and priorities.
  • Define and prioritize feature work, non-functional requirements, technical debt, and enhancements.
  • Facilitate discovery and encourage collaboration to drive building the right solutions that deliver value to customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 4+ years’ experience acting as a Product Owner.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role, with line management responsibilities (HR authority).
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain ideas to both technical and non-technical people.
  • Leads through partnership, collaboration, and servant leadership principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach POs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A technical degree, with a combination of product management, software delivery, and software development experience.
  • Exposure to the life sciences domain and/or clinical trials, working in a regulated environment.
  • Solid understanding of software development and machine learning concepts, with the ability to convey to non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of architecture and development processes and procedures, including Agile approaches and CI/CD fundamentals.
  • Backlog ownership and maintenance, familiarity with AHA! And Jira preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with public clouds (AWS / Azure) and infosec compliance factors in software development.
  • Prior experience collaborating with AI-enabled, data science or machine learning focused software development teams.
  • Certified Product Owner, Scrum Master or similar Agile certification.
  • Experience leading across multiple scrum teams with a global footprint.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leading with influence, pragmatism, compassion, and empathy.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $136,800.00 - $254,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
