Department Overview
The Data Strategy & Governance team is within the Finance Data Management group and supports Finance and Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) teams.
The mandate of the Data Strategy & Governance team supporting Finance and TBSM is to:
Support the implementation of Enterprise Data Management Standards and the Finance / TBSM Data Strategies through a number of programs and projects.
Work in partnership with business lines to build, operationalize and support effective and efficient data management and governance in alignment with the Enterprise Data Information Policy and Standards.
Manage regulatory data programs and act as first point of contact for all Regulatory, GRC and Audit inquiries.
Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Strategy & Governance, this position is responsible for providing data expertise, business leadership and leading data management activities, adhering to data governance, data analysis and data mapping activities to support Finance/TBSM businesses.
The key accountabilities include:
Develop and maintain the Finance/TBSM Data Strategies and Data Management Prioritization Plans
Lead and manage impacts of the Data Risk Management (DRM) and Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) Policies and Standards
Develop and maintain the Finance Data Management Operating Model and Interaction Models
Support Finance/TBSM partners and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in their Data Strategy and complete all accountabilities as a Business Data Manager
Work collaboratively with Finance/TBSM business partners and 1B Data Stewards to complete enterprise data & analytics programs and processes in accordance with the enterprise standards and expectations
Act as a strategic partner by collaborating and maintaining relationships with key enterprise partners to effectively manage the line of business data
Collaborate effectively with 1B Data Governance, including establishing and operationalizing data change and incident management protocols, KRI metrics monitoring and reporting.
Manage data related regulatory compliance programs, such as RDARR and BASEL
Support the business line in the activities related to data quality standards for critical data elements
Develop and maintain knowledge of data available from upstream sources and data within various platforms
Works independently as a senior lead on activities related to analysis, design and support of business data management
Provide timely updates and escalations to senior management and ensure messages to stakeholders are consistent, appropriate and aligned to business strategies.
Assist with other data governance and data management related tasks as required
Job Requirements
7+ years relevant experience
Data management experience preferred
Knowledge of Enterprise Data Management Frameworks, Policies and Standards
3+ years of banking experience preferred. Finance and/or Treasury &
Balance Sheet Management experience would be ideal
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize many different competing requirements
Experience with working in both a technical and business context; ability to translate technical concepts into easy to understand business language
Ability to research and gain in-depth understanding of significant, complex and/or large scale businesses
Strong focus on attention to detail to produce and communicate high quality, accurate and timely deliverables
Excellent relationship management skills with many diverse stakeholder groups
Process improvement skills with ability to create operational efficiencies
Strong documentation skills as it relates to procedural documents, data flows, data artifacts, powerpoint decks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with Senior Management
Strong analytical skills to exercise judgement and identify solutions
Strong problem resolution and consensus building skills
Must be able to work both independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
Capital markets/treasury knowledge and understanding of the TDBG’s Data Program would be considered an asset
