The team/department
We are looking for 2 dynamic Data Engineers to join our Data Strategy & Services department at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
The Data Strategy & Services department drives the FCA’s Data Strategy by enhancing the value of data through data management, governance and analysis activities and providing central co-ordination of all data-related activities. As part of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Division, we are leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation.

What you will be doing (the role)
Play a critical part in addressing key business challenges by driving effective and innovative use of data
Adaptable and capable of managing diverse workloads across data engineering, data science, and data analytics projects
Deliver high-quality data solutions aligned with the strategic needs of the FCA
One of the positions will focus on developing and delivering a new data collection for consumer credit lending firms which is a significant and complex data set that requires careful transformation and integration with existing data. More information on the new data collection can be found here

The skills and experience you will have
Minimum

Previous experience of Python, SQL, Spark and data visualisation/exploration tools
Experience of database technologies and working with optimised SQL queries in services like AWS Redshift
Experience of collaborating with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders
Essential
Hands-on experience designing and building data pipelines in Cloud services
Strong understanding of data integration to deliver scalable and resilient data solutions
Ability to identify, explain, and resolve data quality issues across databases and data products
Detail-oriented approach to documenting data processes, architectures, and standards
Commitment to continuous learning, staying current with evolving data trends and technologies

What to expect from our interview process
The assessment process consists of an initial screening call with one our Recruitment Partners. If successful, you will be invited to complete a technical case study (to take place from week commencing 28th October). The final stage will be a competency-based interview, to take place the week after.
