Position Summary:

The Aetna Individual and Family Plans Finance team is looking for an effective Executive Director who will build a regional finance team focused on financial results by geography.  This CFO will be responsible for building geographic financial reports for this $10B annual revenue business.  This role will be the strategic finance lead to support 16 markets divided into four regions and provide financial leadership for each region to meet the Enterprise financial goals. 

More specifically, in this role, you will provide financial reporting, partner with the regional business leads to develop membership forecasting, partner with the actuarial team for pricing needed, and provide the strategic levers that need to be executed to meet the financial commitments of the IFP business (ex. SAIs).  In addition, the team will be responsible for large claim performance, and understanding the financial performance of our capitated arrangements. 

This role will provide strategic leadership and oversight for financial planning and analysis functions by providing guidance on financial strategy, and collaborating with stakeholders to align financial goals with business objectives. Ensures accurate financial reporting, drives process improvements, and contributes to strategic planning and risk assessment.

  • Communicates strategic financial analysis and insights to support decision-making at the executive level.
  • Administers in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability analysis to identify areas of improvement.
  • Communicates with management to support strategic planning initiatives by providing financial insights, guidance, and recommendations to drive business performance and achieve financial goals
  • Contributes to streamlining financial planning and analysis processes, enhancing data accuracy, and improving efficiency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed environment and build partnerships with key constituents of varying professional levels (e.g., business segment and financial leadership to gain input, feedback, understanding and/or buy-in on key processes, expectations and deliverables, while influencing business decisions through actionable business insights.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant financial experience
  • Track record that shows the ability to build sound financial practices in a cross functional environment
  • Advanced technical financial reporting skills
  • Ability to design action driven financial reporting
  • Analytical capability to identify issues and develop creative solutions
  • Prior Management experience developing and training of staff
  • Communicate clearly and present appropriate level of information to senior leaders
  • Professional and executive presence
  • Setting strategy and driving results

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare, managed care or financial services experience
  • Overall P&L management and leadership with budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, trends, projections, and analytics
  • Development of plans and identification of risks and opportunities
  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or related field

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, actuarial science accounting, or related field

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$131,500.00 - $303,195.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
