The pay range is $111,200.00 - $200,200.00

Merchandising Insights is the engine working to create the most informed Merchandising team in retail. As a member of this cutting-edge, data-driven team, you will help pioneer and lead efforts to advance our insights capabilities and routines across Merchandising.   This team works cross functionally across the organization, partnering with our data sciences, engineering, consulting teams, strategic partners, and Merchandising and Enterprise Segmentation teams, driving innovation in how our teams run their business.   Merchandising Insights is well known for its signature ability to build critical business insights products and we infuse our work with Target’s distinctive retail brand by continuously experimenting, evolving and innovating. Working within Merchandising Insights, your mission will be to partner across assigned businesses to properly understand critical business needs, define solutions, build products, and bridge with our overall capabilities roadmap to drive continuous innovation and elevation of key business functions.

As a Sr Manager Product, Merchandising Insights, you will be expected to stay ahead of trends with your deep knowledge of the digital market and competitive market data landscape. Further Target’s proprietary assortment intelligence by combining disparate data sources to create industry leading insights products and solutions. Proactively seek leadership, consulting team, assortment insights team and buyer feedback as a key input to product backlog prioritization. Leverage product to better serve existing assortment insights routines and enable new routinesBuild strong and direct connection to the business, competitive insights captains and key division leadersCreate product with existing internal platforms and envision the future by making product-ready prototypes awaiting emerging platforms. As a Senior Product Manager, you will work in the product model and will partner to develop a comprehensive product strategy, related roadmap, and set key business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product.  You will need to leverage the knowledge of your product, as well as customer feedback and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product. You will lead a product and work in unison with engineers, UX designers, data scientists and business partners to deliver a product.

You will be the “voice of the product” to key stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met, and that the product team is getting the direction and support that it needs to be successful. You will develop and actively understand the market, maintain a product roadmap and backlog outlining the customer themes, epics, and stories while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders.

You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction. You will foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with product teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours.

About you:

  • 10+ years overall work experience; 5+ years of experience in retail
  • 6+ Years of product management experience
  • Master’s degree in Business/Strategy/Product management/Analytics 
  • Experience with technology and ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, scrum teams, sprints, personas)
  • Proven ability to lead a body of work with cross functional partners
  • Experience with market share, external shopper behavioral data and micro-market analysis
  • Proven track record building products and prototypes that enable low-touch, high impact insights 
  • Ability to create simple, yet impactful visualizations for executive leadership to buyers
  • Experience translating highly nuances and complex data sources into easy to navigate user centric product/prototypes
  • Build & lead the development of robust set of key reports and dashboards to democratize Assortment-level competitive insights for the entire merch team to easily digest and act upon.
  • Develop products to enable actionable insights and trend analysis for key competitors so we can quickly and accurately detect changes to competitors’ assortments, size of prize opportunities and predict future assortment trends.
  • Concept and drive new analytic projects for the team to gain new insights into competitive market and assortment opportunities.
  • Establish and grow relationships with key decision-makers within the cross-functional team, both in Target in India and Minneapolis to drive strategic business initiatives.
  • Drive cross functional collaboration to grow contextual knowledge.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Domo, Tableau & other Visualization tools (incl homegrown platforms) and a deep understanding of core DW/BI concepts.
  • Proven Data analytics + dashboard across multiple sources/metrics experience 
  • Good working knowledge of SQL or PL/SQL/Python  
  • Hands on experience in object oriented or functional programming such as Scala &/or Python or Java 
  • 3-4 years of experience in core analytics, insights domain 
  • Conceptual understanding of analytical techniques like Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Time-series models, Classification Techniques, etc. 
  • Strong Presentation, written and verbal communication skills to explain complex analytical methodologies to clients regardless of the client’s technical expertise 
  • Expert ability to sort through and lead through ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to maximize relationships and lead negotiations with insights partners.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of priorities with the ability to develop strong cross functional partnerships.
  • Strategic thinker with effective, diplomatic and proactive leadership skills.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
