As a Capital Project Director, you will lead the delivery process of Divisional Strategic Capital Projects, typically from concept selection stage to Hand-over and Close-out, delivering expected business benefits and ensuring that all the defined project objectives for cost, schedule, quality and safety are fulfilled.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Builds and leads the Project Team in charge of the design, procurement, construction, qualification, hand-over and close-out of new and or upgraded production, offices, warehouses, labs facilities and ensures that the project is delivered following GSK Project Management Framework and using GE tools.
  • Drives the Project Execution Plan process, selecting the project delivery (Project Execution Plan, Construction Safety Plan) and procurement strategy (Procurement Project Register) according to the Project Management Framework. Establishes a Quality Plan for the project and is proactive in planning for quality.
  • Ensure an effective project control strategy according PMF (Project Management Framework) is implemented for scheduling, cost/forecasting, change control management, physical progress/ productivity measurement, invoicing, resource management, documents management.
  • Set-up of an efficient project communication and meetings strategy involving all project key stakeholders
  • Develops a risk management strategy for the project and implements associated processes and tools to ensure effective identification, monitoring and management of project risks.
  • Monitors project performance by measuring project KPIs and issues monthly progress reports according to the PM Framework to keep the Steering Group and Sponsors informed on critical issues that could jeopardize projects success.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemistry, Electrical, or Life Sciences)
  • 15+ years of experience and understanding of the capital project lifecycle from design to operation
  • 10+ years of experience in delivering high-tech life science capital projects
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and maintenance OR in a manufacturing GMP Environment

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Excellent people management and coaching skills
  • Ability to manage changes in complex situations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience in senior leadership positions in operations management with direct and matrix responsibility
  • Expertise in the implementation of new technologies
  • Advanced knowledge in GMP and regulatory requirements (FDA, EMEA) as applied to maintenance, calibration, and classified facility operation in Bio/Pharma environment.
  • Basic knowledge MS-Office, MS-Project/Primavera and SAP
  • Good financial understanding, opex management and cost of ownership evaluation of change and capex
  • PMI certification
