The Opportunity
The Senior Scientist I will work in a research technician capacity within a project-driven biosensor R&D group, formulating analyte sensing polymers, fabricating new electrochemical sensor designs, and conducting non-routine performance testing of sensors in vitro. The candidate will also use mechanical engineering skills and laboratory automation capabilities to design and fabricate tooling and fixturing to increase throughput, reliability, and efficiency of in vitro test sensor testing systems and processes.
What You'll Work On
Mechanical design and development of robust fluidic laboratory test systems for evaluating electrochemical sensor response to analytes. This includes using SolidWorks, and other CAD software to develop prototypes and working systems for routine laboratory use.
Construct and test biosensors in various formats for R&D purposes. This includes running laser cutting, automated liquid dispensing, and other custom equipment.
Access the chemical, biological, and engineering literature to provide insights to technical issues.
Present experimental results in group meetings.
Maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot instrument issues.
Required Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field, with 5+ years post-baccalaureate experience.
Experience designing, building, and testing precision electromechanical systems for medical robotics, medical device, or diagnostic equipment applications.
Expert proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks)
Demonstrated ability to advance the mechanical design of complex medical systems from early prototype to manufacturing and commercialization.
Strong analytical skills and creative mindset.

The base pay for this position is
$83,600.00 – $167,200.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
