The opportunity
 


Responsibilities


•    Pricing:  
o    Support the launching of competitive and successful products / campaigns by coming up with creative ideas and strategies
o    Accountability for the integrity of pricing activities assigned, including preparing documentation that outlines key financial metrics and how major risk exposures are mitigated
o    Review support systems, marketing materials and policy contracts

•    Risk management:  
o    Assist in managing the financial aspects associated with designing and pricing products / features
o    Escalate potential issues where appropriate

•    Project management: 
o    Assist in maintaining a rapidly changing portfolio of initiatives with varying degrees of complexity and urgency in support of business unit objectives
o    Manage staff to complete key pricing projects in a timely fashion with flexibility to adjust priorities due to change in business need
o    Obtain formal approval for product initiatives through the Corporate Product Risk Management gating process

•    Reinsurance: 
o    Provide recommendation on how to utilize reinsurance to maximize our capability on product offering and enhance competitiveness
o    Negotiate and oversee the implementation of reinsurance treaties for product initiatives assigned, ensuring that reinsurance treaties are fully documented and consistent with company best practices
o    Facilitate decision making of reinsurance initiatives with both qualitative (e.g. support of company strategies) and quantitative (economic value analysis) study

•    Leadership:   
o    Contribute as a senior member of the Pricing team, be able to assist the Pricing Office in co-ordinating the team functions such as resource management and maintaining consistent best practice standard across all the team members
o    Provide leadership to actuarial professionals. Develop, coach, mentor and recruit staff to build capabilities, and be a role model of other team members

This role in Product Pricing plays a crucial role in the Pricing team that is responsible for influencing and developing new products as well as business strategy that balances our growth objectives and risk management. The role reports to the Pricing Officer.

What we are looking for

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years actuarial experience, with at least 4 years in pricing with progressive roles 
  • Strong risk assessment skills as well as strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial information and concepts
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects and manage the work of junior staff to achieve high quality results under deadline pressure
  • Business acumen coupled with the ability to assess stakeholder needs and influence outcomes as appropriate
  • Communication skills to deliver appropriate messaging to audiences in an effective manner
  • Ability to manage day-to-day staffing issues; lead by example and motivate the Pricing area 
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry
  • Results driven and ability to work under pressure
