Program Overview

The Comcast internship/co-op program will help you cultivate meaningful relationships, develop strong interpersonal and business skills, gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a Fortune 40 media and technology company, and receive mentorship opportunities to expand your professional network.  

This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. 

Organization & Team Overview 

Comcast Global Risk Management forecasts, evaluates, and oversees Comcast’s insurable risks on an enterprise-wide, worldwide basis.  It finances risk through Company-owned resources and via procurement of insurance with domestic and international insurers to protect the assets of the company in accordance with Comcast’s evolving risk profile.  It manages claims activity within all insured programs and offers strategy, oversight and advocacy for a significant portfolio of retained liability.  

 

Role Description 

Comcast’s Global Risk Management team oversees a broad range of insurable risks, and our intern has the chance to observe and support that work.  If you are interested in risk management and want exposure to many facets of our business, this role would be an excellent opportunityAs the Global Risk Management intern, you will see and participate real insurance program and claims management. Our interns also spend time with Comcast’s brokers, insurers, and peer organizations for a wide range of experience and networking opportunities.  

 

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?  

In this role, you will support real-time risk and insurance needs.  Specific projects for 2025 have not yet been chosen, but past interns have supported insurance program submission completion, intranet page design, and insurance claims management projects.  We also will spend time talking about the application of classroom concepts to real business scenarios. You will have an opportunity to work with a large, sophisticated Risk Management team and support projects that directly contribute to our management of Comcast NBCUniversal Sky insurance programs.  You will also have the chance to network with brokers and insurers that service Comcast’s insurance needs, and with other risk management organizations in the Philadelphia area 

Where can this student make an impact?  

You should come to this internship with a base understanding of risk management principals and common insurance policy typesA successful intern will be able to work independently and in coordination with others, ask informed questions of colleagues, research topics and propose solutions to problems in collaboration with their manager and colleagues. 

Job Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Gain experience by working in a risk management department and learning about the different functions/areas of the department and the company

  • Assist in day-to-day activities, which may include review and filing of exposure information, policy documents, claims matters, and insurance broker interface 

  • Collaborate with internal team members 

  • Attend strategy meetings 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred 

  • Able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. 

  • Ability to balance workload, adapt to changing situations and priorities, and be deadline-oriented. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills (inquisitive, able to connect or relate with others).  

  • Analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills required to assess risks on a real-time basis. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills 

  • Clear, articulate oral and written communication skills. 

  • Strong PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  

  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong interest in the telecommunications, cable and media industries. 

  • A demonstrated interest Risk Management 

  • Preferred Majors: Risk Management & Insurance (RMI Minors also considered) 

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university  

  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027)  

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating) 

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025 

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs 

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation

Base Pay: $23.00
