About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Strategic Business and Industry Analyst Expert to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth industry analysis, developing strategic initiatives, and providing actionable insights to drive business growth and competitiveness. This role requires a deep understanding of the chemical and materials science industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to senior leadership.

As a Senior Strategic Planning Director, you will apply in-depth knowledge of Dow’s business strategies with broad industry knowledge and advanced commercial awareness to contribute to the organization's long-term strategic plan.  You will support analyses of business characterization / portfolio analysis, joint venture, mega project, corporate analysis projects, and other studies to ensure the continued successful growth of the organization and shareholder return.  You should have established collaborative internal and external relationships with the ability to negotiate with and shape the opinions of other senior people leaders.

It is your responsibility to be able to apply advanced critical thinking to direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems. You will provide business and industry expertise in the development of strategies to achieve business and long-term organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the development and execution of the company’s strategic initiatives, including market entry strategies, business development plans, and investment decisions.
  • Economic Evaluation:  Understand, maintain, and promote Dow’s methodology or economic analysis, merger and acquisition analysis, and value-based strategy development
  • Data Analysis: Utilize advanced analytical techniques to gather, review, and interpret data from various sources to support strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including M&A, business finance, marketing, and controllers to ensure alignment of strategic goals and objectives.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Provide support to Management in preparing for Board Meetings, Executive Leadership Team & Committee meetings, and Strategy Sessions.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrates strong influential and collaborative leadership skills
  • Experience with executive level presentation and communication
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive business finance experience in the industry
  • Economic evaluation expertise
  • Experience in long-term strategic planning activities
  • Industry benchmark familiarity
