About the job:

The Risk and Compliance department constitutes Saxo's second line of defence. Its mission is to support the group's management, ensuring that our activities are conducted in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory provisions. In this context, we monitor and evaluate the implementation, adequacy and effectiveness of the measures and procedures put in place to control our risks and comply with regulations, as well as the measures taken to remedy any potential shortcomings. The department is made up of several teams, each with its own responsibility in covering the Risk and Compliance area.

We are looking for a competent and motivated Senior Compliance Associate to work with Legal risk.

You will work independently as well as with colleagues from compliance teams in Saxo subsidiaries in a challenging and constantly developing business environment while at the same time growing both professionally and on a personal level. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the independent 2nd line Compliance team in our office in Gurugram.
 

Responsibilities:

  • From a 2nd line perspective, identify the legal risk exposure of India entity and offer alternative strategies and mitigation.
  • Consult with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate course of action were taken.
  • Advise the 1st line of defense on matters related to labour legislation, contractual risks and other legal risks exposures.
  • Responsible for supporting monitoring projects and conduct tasks, investigations and report findings on behalf of the global compliance function in close collaboration with other compliance colleagues.
  • Maintain a library of India laws and regulations in relation to Saxo’s operations in India
  • Support the ongoing reporting to the Group Compliance Operating Office and the Chief Compliance Officer on compliance risks and help identify risk exposures across the activities performed in Gurugram and provide advice on how to mitigate the risk levels. 
     

Mandate:  

  • A law degree from a nationally recognised law school with 2-5 years of experience in corporate with legal or compliance department or a law firm
  • Knowledge of Indian laws for Corporates with the ability to interpret labour laws, contractual laws, etc.
  • Knowledge and exposure to financial industry is an added advantage
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Open to investigate and learn about other risks in addition to legal risk
  • Self-driven team player and can take responsibility for compliance projects and ensure delivery in collaboration with our different offices.   
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – written and verbal with senior management and other stakeholders
  • Solution-oriented with a “can-do attitude” to projects and tasks that require coordination and stakeholder management with different parts of the bank.
