Job Overview
Under general direction, participates in the processing, maintenance, and reporting of the Board’s financial information. Related responsibilities include professional level work in the area of governmental accounting, financial analysis, and reporting. Exercises initiative, judgment, and discretion in the execution of responsibilities within the constraints of generally accepted accounting principles and Board policies and procedures.
What you will be doing:
Prepares and approves monthly general ledger account reconciliations, as required
Leads or participates in project teams involved in financial related projects, such as external audits and special studies, develops work plans, captures and analyzes information and presents findings.
Performs technical advanced-level accounting, applying appropriate principles, practices, and procedures when recording, maintaining, adjusting, and balancing financial records.
Develops and maintains schedules and models to track, reconcile, and report financial information on special projects/programs.
Extracts data from established accounts, summary, and detail ledgers; prepares comprehensive, accurate, concise reports and financial schedules, including supporting documentation.
Edits and reviews financial transactions for accuracy and completeness; determines and prepares necessary adjustments.
Performs complex and detailed research and analysis. Prepares and presents statistical reports.
Prepares journal entries with enough supporting documentation to record activity into appropriate funds, as required, after researching activity.
Participates in the month-end and year-end close process and procedures to prepare required schedules and reports.
Participates in the development and analysis of Airport trends and activities and quantifies potential financial impact.
Performs multi-task duties on an “as assigned basis” associated with established deadlines.
What you need:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Five (5) plus years of experience in financial accounting and financial analysis.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
What we desire:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Master’s in Business or Public Administration.
Experience in preparing financial statements and writing explanations for variances.
Progressively responsible, professional-level experience in accounting functions.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) practices and procedures
Knowledge of governmental fund accounting
Knowledge of computer technology and financial accounting systems (e.g. Oracle Fusion)
Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing receipt, expenditure, and accounting of public funds
