Overview of Project:

Provide break fix support services (PHS&T) and technical triage, repair and staging to DII Maritime Deployed

Job Description including Day to Day Responsibilities:

A highly important and dynamic role which provides direct support the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary to vessels deployed globally. The role is for an MRC engineer, a key role within the ADELIE Service Management Teams, which provide Remote Management of the DII(D) Infrastructure to the Military deployed environment. This position as MRC engineer is a high profile and fulfilling role which requires close co-operation and interaction with the deployed CIS staff of the RN & RFA.  
 

  • Must have or be willing to undergo Security Clearance.

ADELIE provide support in the following areas:

  • 24/7 Service Desk
  • Desktop Infrastructure & Application Support
  • Server infrastructure support across all disciplines.
  • Network infrastructure support across all disciplines.
  • Point of escalation for third and fourth line.
  • NOC & SOC Functions.
  • Integrated Logistics Support & Obsolescence Management.
  • Safety Engineering.
  • ICT Build Support Services.
  • Break Fix Services.
  • All Service Management functions at a Enterprise level.

 
The MRC engineers are a key part of the ADELIE team, fundamental to the break fix service and closely integrated with the overall integrated logistic support service/team.

The primary task is to fulfil demands for replacement hardware raised under break fix by the RN/RFA CIS staff, through the ADELIE material demand process.

This involves the following:

  • Management of the local inventory management system (IMS) to ensure stock levels held can meet demands of the live estate.
  • Staging of equipment prior to its issue to MOD supply chain.
  • Triage and repair of returned hardware, to allow re-use and re-entry in to spares holdings.
  • Conducting Power on tests.
  • Ensuring that the software/ios are at the correct versions.
  • Ensuring the equipment conforms to the latest standard set by ILS.
  • Updating test/staging documentation for equipment.
  • Creating documentation for new items of hardware.
  • Liaising with ILS upon delivery of equipment.
  • Notifying the SDM of hardware that MOD will need to arrange disposal of.

Essential:

  • Must be a self-motivated and determined
  • Ability to cope under pressure in a highly visible environment
  • Flexible with work times, in order that any critical demands are fulfilled as quickly as possible when the need arises
  • Ability to work under their own initiative without constant guidance and be part of a small team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal/external customers
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills
  • Have good attention to detail
  • In depth working knowledge of Desktop Infrastructure including:
  • Windows and Unix Server Infrastructure Management
  • Microsoft exchange and LCS Messaging Support
  • NetApp San Storage Management
  • MacAfee

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of CISCO device configuration
  • Experience of Supply Chain support
  • Previous Military experience – not essential
  • Infrastructure support experience
  • System Administration experience in a distributed environment
