What you'll do...

Position: Staff Software Engineer

Job Location: 680 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Duties: Design and develop product and infrastructure features for Walmart search backend system. Participate in the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with a high-level design. Work for improvement of performance and scalability of search system. Analyze service infrastructure requirements, logs and system metrics to propose solutions for reported performance issues. Independently handles high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues and tickets/incidents. Troubleshoots production and business issues. Responsible for the design and development of Walmart search backend services including but not limited to Walmart search runtime service, query normalization service, manual shelf priming service, and search engine service. Identify system bottlenecks, fine-tune the services, and explore state-of-the-art technologies to migrate existing services to improve efficiency/failure-rates and meet SLAs. Utilize and develop tools to facilitate development efficiency, POC on performance improvement, and data correctness validation. 

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 3 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 6 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.

Skills required: Experience with Java, Python, and JavaScript language. Experience with Java programming language and design patterns. Experience designing, building, and maintaining fast and efficient microservice backend systems using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot. Experience with development and migration experience on different Web Service framework and protocols using REST API, CXF, Spring, and Spring Boot. Experience designing and developing with different cache and database systems. Experience with development and migration on different databases. Experience with system performance analysis, profiling, bottleneck identification, service fine-tune, and solution proposal. Experience with JVM GC analysis and tuning. Experience troubleshooting production issues on business level. Experience troubleshooting critical software/system monitoring issues on lower infrastructure level. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $150,762/year to $286,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
