This position will require travel primarily throughout West/South Michigan with occasional travel to East Michigan. It will work weekends only if there are safety concerns or emergency warrants.

Job Summary

Manages the complex process improvement activity. The individual is responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of Quality and Safety projects and the formation of clinical improvement teams. Required to interface with executive and physician leadership and responsible for managing change in a highly complex/matrixed environment. This work includes the assessment, analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation of a large number of interventions, programs and data. Additionally, the role includes consultation within the health system in planning group processes, targeting improvement strategy initiatives and for facilitating change through internal team building.

Essential Functions

  • Identifies and monitors project scope, target timelines, resource requirements, cost, milestones, data requirements and completes documents and reports as necessary.

  • Expertise in leading team activities in a manner that is organized but fosters creative thinking and activity. Instills a vision and mission for others, and, models a sense of purpose, direction, intellectual curiosity, and accountability to others.

  • Manages the work priorities of quality and safety initiatives on high volume, high cost, and high-risk projects. Delegates the general work assignment areas for all staff and assigns special projects individually. Mentors, coaches and develops staff while being a role model and resource to them.

  • Collaborates with chair of professional standards committee and coordinates related activities including problem identification, fact finding, problem resolution and coordinates as necessary with exceptional leadership.

  • Expert in communicating team results on a routine basis to management and key players in a timely and complete manner. Maintains knowledge of team activities and keeps strict confidentiality as appropriate. Has expertise in process improvement theory and strategies, data analysis and change theories. Shares key learnings with others and fosters direct and honest communication.

  • Networks with peers in the field and ensures that all services are provided in a manner consistent with state and Federal regulation, organizational policy, accreditation, and/or compliance. Knows and support key organizational strategies and incorporates them into team strategies. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc.

  • Participates as an ad hoc member on hospital/health system committees.

  • Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related field

  • 5 years of relevant experience related

Preferred

  • Master's Degree or equivalent related field
