         I. FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS
 
Purpose
 
The purpose of this job is to pick-up and/or deliver merchandise as required and serve as a company representative, promoting the reputation of United Central Industrial Supply Company in a positive manner.
 
Primary Functions
 
   • Operate company vehicles safely.
   • Load and unload merchandise on vehicles.
   • Obtain signatures and/or payments upon delivery of merchandise.
   • Follow assigned scheduling of deliveries; make deliveries on time as scheduled.
   • Follow proper procedures in reporting accidents in accordance with company policies.
   • Maintain vehicles appearance, reporting any needed maintenance; observe traffic laws and regulations.
   • Maintain neat personal appearance; always remain courteous and service minded in dealing with customers.
   • Keep supervisor informed of shortages, overages or damaged merchandise and unresolved customer complaints.
  
Additional Functions
 
   • Maintain housekeeping in the warehouse and stockyard.
   • Assist in the stock transfer process.
   • Comply with prescribed safety regulations of this company and its customers when entering their property.
   • Any other duties that supervisor feels necessary to fulfill the objectives of the company.
   • Attend training courses to include but not limited to recertification and safety.
   • Perform counter sales, inventory control and other departmental duties as required.
 
Required Equipment
 
   • Various sized delivery vehicles.
   • Knuckle boom crane.
   • Forklift.
   • Dollies, binders, chains, straps and covers.
 
Minimum Required Qualifications
 
   • Commercial Driver's License - Proper Class Specification.
   • One Year Commercial Driving Experience Preferred.
   • General understanding of Department of Transportation Regulations.
   • Successfully pass a company administered driving test.
   • High School Diploma or equivalent.
 
Required Communication
 
   • Read, write and fully comprehend delivery tickets, packing lists, invoices, transfer requests, special material instructions, M.S.D.S. literature and other information pertaining to the job.
   • Communicate orally to customer and supervisor.
 
            II. WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
Physical Demands
 
   • Be able to lift objects of varying weight and carry a distance of twenty yards.
   • Be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
   • Be able to climb up and down trucks, ladders, shelving, etc.
 
Working Environment
 
   • It will be necessary to work in a varying degree of temperatures indigenous of the region.
   • Work in a warehouse environment with merchandise in varying stages of resale.
   • Work at mining and industrial locations with different terrains and harsh conditions such as narrow, curvy, rough roads.
   • Sit, stand or drive for extended periods of time.
 
Safety Requirements
 
   • This position has the potential to be life threatening to both the performer and co-workers, if proper safety precautions and safety regulations are not followed.
   • Use of safety apparel and equipment as required by law and company policy.
 
Possible Work Hazards
 
   • This position requires its performer to work in and around heavy moving equipment.
   • Work around fast-paced warehouse that includes the moving of heavy and large merchandise.
   • In any industrial setting there is a constant need for alertness to changes in the surrounding environment.
         III. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
 
Work Location
 
   • United Central's assigned warehouse and the territory that warehouse serves.
   • Other locations as assigned.
 
Work Schedules
 
   • Normal work hours are 7 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday; weekends as required.
   • Scheduling will be determined by the supervisor based on company requirements.
   • Overtime will be required and is expected when beneficial to the company and/or scheduled by the supervisor.
 
 
Accountabilities
 
   • Responsible for the safeguard of all company assets to include vehicles, equipment, merchandise, cash, checks, forms and documents entrusted to the employee.
   • Maintain confidentiality concerning sales, pricing policies and procedures, customer lists, credit information, correspondence and any other information which might be harmful to the company, customers or other employees if revealed.
