Role Definition: Senior Associate Engineer – Validation Engineer

Join Caterpillar and seize the opportunity to become part of the global Telehandler engineering team as a Validation Engineer within the Building & Construction Products division in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. In this pivotal role, you will support the development of new Telehandler products by leading prototype machine builds and validating parts and whole machines through instrumented test work and endurance testing. You will work as part of the Global team to shape the future of Telehandler development, ensuring engineering designs meet customer requirements and maximizing product quality.

What You Will Do:

• Work with the Global validation team to define and execute product validation plans.
• Develop product‑testing procedures and participate in selecting the appropriate testing environment.
• Define and lead physical machine testing to verify that the design works as intended.
• Test components for compliance with functional requirements and established standards.
• Lead prototype machine builds, following standard guidelines and best practices while carrying out DFM procedures.
• Ensure correct reporting of issue discovery for efficient problem resolution.
• Provides input to DFMEA (Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis) activities with the global design team.
• Participate in design reviews and addresses reliability issues identified during testing and validation.
• Work with vendor‑specific diagnostic guides, tools, and utilities to identify application problems.
• Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effective resolutions

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

• Education: Bachelor’s / master’s degree in engineering curriculum
• Experience:  6 to 8+ years in relevant engineering function

Skill Descriptor:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear explanation of technical concepts,
• Experience working with global teams to foster collaboration, support skill development, and align efforts toward shared objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and respect cultural differences, contributing to effective global teamwork.
• Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, including prototype machine builds and documenting issues and learnings.
• Experience conducting tests according to validation plans, performing data collection and analysis, and troubleshooting during testing activities.
• Proficient in applying problem solving techniques, documenting test data, and presenting comprehensive test reports.
• Ability to work flexibly across time zones with cross functional, diverse teams

• Travel up to 15% (International)
• Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify
