As a CS/SPD Supervisor, you will supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Sterile Processing or Central Sterile Supply Unit. The caregiver in this role will be responsible for engagement activities, performance feedback and corrective actions, respond to customer needs and concerns, act as a troubleshooter, and make recommendations for and/or implement improvement initiatives.  
 

A caregiver in this position works primarily Evening shift, 3:00PM – 11:30PM. Some flexibility with start and end times will be required to attend meetings and for on call hours. 


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare and evaluate daily caregiver assignments for assigned shifts. 

  • Ensure caregivers are in compliance with department and CCF policies, procedures and protocols. 

  • Assess quality of services delivery to ensure department quality standards are met, turnaround time is efficient and OR needs are met. 

  • Provide performance feedback to caregivers, and when applicable, corrective action. 

  • Lead department caregiver engagement activities. 

  • Facilitate caregiver development programs including in-services on product usage and infection control. 

  • Assist in orienting new caregivers and may act as preceptor. 

  • Collect data and prepare reports concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement. 

  • Administer an instrument preventative maintenance program. 

  • Use the department's instrument and productivity tracking program to maintain accurate records regarding sterilization and set assembly count sheets. 

  • Establish internal inventory levels and maintain levels in accordance with set standards. 

  • Establish par level stocks and monitor for proper utilization, as applicable. 

  • Actively seek ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflow and improve customer service. 

  • Demonstrate use of Process Improvement Standards (PIS) techniques and philosophies. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • Sterile processing distribution certification (CRCST) by IAHCSMM/HSPA or CBSPD within two years following the completion of the new hire period.  

  • Two years of SPT and/or related OR experience.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • CS/SPD Lead Technician experience.

  • Current CRCST or CBSPD certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching and lifting.

  • Some instrument trays may weigh in excess of 30 pounds.

  • Possible exposure to biohazardous materials, possible exposure to carcinogenic and hazardous chemicals and gases.
